2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

Game 1's are always so weird.

I dont think the Pacers will have turnover issues to that degree again in the series.

Will Chet/Williams be this bad again in the series. Chet was barely noticeable and only played 24 minutes. I really dont get the Thunder's decision to go ultra small.

Tyrese Haliburton has to be way better. He's a clutch god right now, so that covers for a lot of issues, but he's getting hunted on defense and isnt doing enough offensively.

The Thunder squandered Game 1 vs. Denver as well. OKC should still win this series, but it might be prolonged to 6 games.

Jalen Williams should be better from here. Cody will make sure he gets on track.

I dunno, … Indiana is the one team that can match OKC’s youth and energy.

Let’s hope IND can steal 1 more game.

No **** genius. They just signed a tv deal. They dont give a ****.
Yep, low viewership doesn't affect the deal they already signed. It'll just reduce the one the sign next time. You better believe they give a ****.. Give them a string of low views finals and playoffs and they will lose money on the next deal.

So, just because the NBA recently signed a large deal, there's NO reason for them to be concerned about low TV ratings? That seems a bit extreme and, frankly, unrealistic view. I can think offhand of several reasons why low finals ratings might concern them:

Impact on Brand Perception:Low viewership signals declining relevance, damaging the NBA's brand appeal to fans and sponsors.
Global Expansion: Poor US ratings undermine efforts to attract international sponsors and media partners, slowing global growth.
Future TV Rights: While current deals are secure, consistently low ratings threaten future contract negotiations and revenue.
Fan Engagement: Declining Finals viewership indicates weakening fan interest, risking reduced attendance and merchandise sales.
Media Coverage: Low ratings generate negative press and public perception of a declining league.
Competitive Position: Lost market share to rival sports leagues weakens the NBA's industry standing.
Organizational Pride: Declining viewership undermines the natural satisfaction of producing well-received entertainment.

I'm also convinced over 50% of people watch the finals on an illegal stream. I know I do and most other people I know do as well.

Ehh, it's one year and it's a small market year. They care about it going to 7 games than they do any single game rating.
