What's new

2026 free agency

Sexton, Simons are going to likely get a pretty light contract offer that will make me a little sad for Collin.

I haven't looked at the bigs. I think the draft is kinda gonna sway whatever I would do.

One note... not sure he can even make the rotation but Pat Spencer would be fun. We need his Ingles energy and Boler would say "sneaky athlete" the second he checked in.

We just acquired Spencer at home. JK, he would actually be a pretty good fit and acquisition. I think MLE crop is pretty good this season for guards. Lots of players who probably won't even take up the full MLE. I'm still leaning towards the defensive oriented guys because I have full faith in Hardy to coach offense, but I think he needs real defensive talent on the other end.

Another good big we could go after is Timelord. DA was the guy that drafted him, and he's still good when he does play.

I think that type of upside signing... combined with maybe a second round flyer on a big or running Flip as backup center is kind of where I am. FA likely won't be much imo... we did FA at the trade deadline basically.

Konchar just needs to have the spirit of Pat in him. Too nice. We need an MFer.

I'm not expecting a ton from the MLE, but I think the MLE is something you should use because you can.

.....as long as you avoid Davis/Favors/Gay. Jesus christ that string of transactions was so awful.

The theme here is bargain hunting since we just burned all of our margin to take any chances at all.

Could technically do all of:
-Sexton $6.5 million or less a year
-Nurk for BAE
-Jalen Smith absorbed with the MLE (probs send out some 2nds since Chicago loves them so much)

I have not exhaustively researched the question. But I think it would be good to have cheap depth at big spots to enable the Jazz to amply rest or account for injuries for Lauri/J3/Walker.

If you had a healthy-ish Isaac or Williams and put them out there with JJJ it would be pretty hilarious to see all that defensive activity and length.

Vince Williams could be the Luke Walton all star we need next to Key btw. Defense, some ball handling/passing, hopefully some shooting. Doesn't have the same PG savvy, but think Kris Dunn.

He's spreadsheet approved as well:

The shooting indicators are promising. I wonder what his numbers would look like if he wasn't hurt last year or trying to be a pg this year. Very bullish on Vince and I would want to get him out there enough to see what we have.

I think you could have an extension conversation with him this summer that could be a HUGE benefit to the team cap sheet if you can get comfortable with him. I think you could add years to his cheap deal or do the decline his option for next year in connection with signing an extension. Say you like what you see and decline the option and offer like 3/21M or something around there. Would likely be pretty tempting to take that even if he think he has a chance at a NAW type deal in 2027.
