The Lakers play would be because they can have AR and WK at low capholds and go out and use space to sign someone. In order for them to win this gambit, they pretty much have to execute moves with cap space that could not have been done without the extra $10-15M in cap they saved. But even in that even, you have to weigh that versus the cost of Kessler likely being paid long term. I can't really see a way where they win by getting Kessler on a strong deal. Even with Kessler missing the entire season they are not in a good negotiation situation. The best they can hope for on that front is Kessler saying, "I want to play for you, instead of signing X contract with Y team I will sign a deal with you guys in less punishing terms".
He might just feel disrespected and want to leave/design his offer sheet in a way to get out sooner though.
I could see LAL maybe making a deal....Idk, they only have bad firsts so I'm not super interested. IND could be a team that ramps up their offer. Could argue that IND does not have premium stuff to give up either because they are not trading their first this year. They've given up this year and are going to collect their reward.
The Tre/Trae backcourt is going to be terrible defensively. I don't get Washington's angle at all unless there is some kind of draft pick compensation. If they just add trae then yes.
But they would have to give up something and if that something is CJ then no.
They will have spun out Poole/Bey/Kispert for Trae and draft comp... overall they kinda spun straw into copper (can't call it gold). Trae may only be a short term play that they flip again or let loose next offseason. They will still have like 30-40M in cap space this offseason. The Tre/Trae backcourt is going to be terrible defensively. If this goes down it all but guarantees Dallas will get Darryn PetersonShould not be allowed. I mean… I don’t know what that policy would look like, but it certainly violates the spirit of fairness.
It's a joke tweet I'm pretty sureShould not be allowed. I mean… I don’t know what that policy would look like, but it certainly violates the spirit of fairness.
They have Bilal, George, and Sarr. They have some defensive pieces/general length and Tre is also very long. The Tre/Trae backcourt is going to be terrible defensively. I don't get Washington's angle at all unless there is some kind of draft pick compensation.
Same front office who traded Deni. Makes no sense. They will have spun out Poole/Bey/Kispert for Trae and draft comp... overall they kinda spun straw into copper (can't call it gold).
