2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

It certainly sounds like Trae Young is going somewhere else in the next 24 hours. All signs point to Washington, which would be pretty darn spectacular!

They’re not the same, but I think it’s a bit dismissive to believe that one’s market doesn’t say something about the other. Even if you just take their similarity as starting PG’s….not a lot of teams without one in the league.

I’m not trying to say one is better than the other, but with Kessler it seems like there a bunch of teams who both need him and could make a realistic play. I don’t know the cap situation as well for Key’s year, but it does seem like there’s a million PG’s available at all times. Like there’s no destinations for Trae, Lamelo, Ja, Garland etc. A lot of that is their warts, but it’s also just the lack of open starting positions.
I don't think it means nothing... but I think the market for Trae is just different. I think Murray is a more relevant comp.

I think there would be more interest in Ja and Lamelo if healthy but Ja has some other concerns.

I think Cleveland would do fine in a Garland trade if he had some consistent health for a month or so.

I get what you are saying. I do think Key takes a slight discount off the max (say $5M or so) and it can get done around there. If not I have no issue with having him go to RFA. Its different than Walker... he wasn't commanding close to max. I think somewhere between 25-30 would get it done.

If Key was just regular bad on defense I’d say he’s entering fun max territory. But I’m not ready to say he is until the results get better.

We may also have to rethink what a fun max is in the apron era. Everything is being re-evaluated.
No fun max deals a year early unless its obvious. Work a discount in... agents also aren't stupid... they will work to get good deals done.

Yes, and his cap hold is also just under $20 million so they cold agree to an extension but hold off on signing it until they at least try to use that space so sign a difference maker.

Why does everyone say Keyonte is small? He was measured 6’4” barefoot. Not a massive wingspan but by no means small imo.
He skipped combine measurements (I wonder why?), so there’s nothing actually official. He does not appear to be 6’ 6” in shoes. I am very comfortable saying he’s 6’ 4” in shoes (if that) because ain’t no one (besides KD or Wemby) that want people to think they’re on the shorter side of their range.

I don't think we are a cap space team but its possible I suppose. Would mean we had a pretty rough offseason.

My homie Evan Sidery says Jalen Smith is available. I'd be very interested there. I may not want to wreck the tank but I think you could slow play him a little. The tank is rolling and things are delicate.

I'm such a nerd because why would I think adding Smith and Keon Ellis this offseason would be an A+ homerun offseason.
