2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

the most interesting names I've seen out there that I'd actually have long term interest in the actual player are Goga, Keon Ellis, Jalen Smith, and Yves Missi. Like if those guys were a couple seconds and some cap help I think it would make sense. It would make the tank slightly harder to manage (especially Goga) but I'd hate to miss out on one of those guys if they were cheap.

Goga is really underrated. I think ORL holds onto him because they need their discount contracts. The ORL player I'm thinking about at deadline is Issac. They really need to get off his contract.

Missi is kind of an interesting prospect. If we don't believe in Brice I think that would be a reasonable trade straight across.

I hear what you're saying....but I do think this year is different. Most years do not compare at all and if you catch me saying this year in, year out you can include me in the mass hypnosis.
The mass hypnosis happens when we convince ourselves that they will become the best possible versions of themselves.

Truth is that rarely happens. They usually stay flawed one way or the other.

But then there are guys like Key who exceed all expectations. The assessment on him was always correct at that time. He simply beat the average curve.

That's what I thought on Goga too... but I saw some report that his name might be out there. It wasn't one of the big boys that put it out there. I think they should focus on ducking the tax this year and figure out Isaac later. His contract is only $8M guaranteed next year so they could waive and stretch it. I think they would get stuff trading Goga and lose stuff trading Isaac. I'd probably rather lose the stuff and trade Isaac but I thought it was interesting.

I'm with ya. The history of the draft is what it is and the truth is that people highly overrate it. For example, I'm very open to trading the pick if it's not top 3/4 because picks are overrated. BUT, I really think the top 3 in this draft specifically are special and maybe even the top 4.

You have to remember though in this scenario it isn't pick, its picks plural. We would have our pick, which without key this year would have a better chance of being a great pick, and the pick we got from trading keyonte.
So those fairly low odds go up at least a little by the fact that its 2 high lottery picks rather than 1.
There are just as good odds that we get picks 8 and 9. I'll take the sure thing every time.

What incentive does Chicago have to trade Smith for cheap, though? They look like they might have trouble getting to the salary floor with earnest contracts, and his already cheap deal expires next year.

You never know with the Bulls, but it seems to me they would be seeing if they can get someone to overpay rather than dumping him overboard for cheap right now.

I would much rather do a move in the offseason and am not sure why Smith would be cheaper now than then (saying nothing of the tanking ramifications).
