2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

If we did just the converting 27 into a swap and providing the 2029 pick that is the 2nd most favorable of Utah/Minnesota/Cleveland is that enough to get the 2026 pick and 2032 pick? I would hate to take Vanderbilt's deal as it sucks but I wonder if that would tip the scales.

I guess it would be nice to know what the plan is with the picks they want to move. I also really want to get another 2026 pick so trying to think of ways to do that.

It's a crummy situation that we put ourselves in, but I wouldn't give him up for what is basically a 32 FRPs. I think the exchange of other picks is fairly even across. If we get into a S&T situation, this is probably about the most we could expect though.
Maybe another iteration is we get the 26/28/30/32 picks for Walker/2027 pick conversation/2029 swapped pick and we take JV's deal. Would even out the pick portfolio... allows them a lot of cap space and they can keep AR/Walker.

I just don't understand the desire to help the Lakers out at all. A Laker future where they have Doncik and Kessler as a base is not a lottery team for many years to come. Those picks are going to suck.

Man, we are almost there. Why are we talking about taking Vanderbuilt's contract to free space for the Lakers? Those days are behind us.

Here’s an idea: we just go to the Lakers and trade their ‘27 for their ‘26 right now?
I feel like we are approaching a roster crunch next offseason especially if we wanna get reinforcements. Whats your idea behind this move?

Every team that gives up unprotected picks thinks the picks will likely be late firsts... it works out that way sometimes. Sometimes you have what the Bucks, Nets, Suns, etc end up with. Its not about them... its about what it gets us.

That doesn't help them free up picks... which is their goal with something like that.

2026 draft is better than 2027... likely by a wide margin.

Well the Stepien rule probably won’t let the deal happen as the Lakers didn’t have a 1st in 2025, but;

I’d rather have the pick this year because this is supposed to be a better draft and nobody needs three 1sts in a draft (our current ‘27 draft). We also aren’t out of the woods on having even one pick in this draft or zero and would like to have at least one.

I dig your perspective here, but I mostly want to keep Walker (and hope it's for the right price, of course).

My dream is for a Point Center who is above average at defense, but I don't know where we're getting one of those.
