They are definitely thinking about winning. Or why bother adding that 10-30 protection?I wonder what Indiana will do...
If they were planning on tanking their asses off to season's end, why is the pick 10-30 protected.

We are done accumulating assets. We have assembled a team. Walker and JJJ are about as good a pairing on paper to fix our most glaring deficiency (defense) as could possibly be found. Not taking that Indiana package for Walker was a sizable mistake.
And I have no idea why they would’ve offered anything less for Walker. That weird protection scheme didn’t just happen this afternoon.
Praying we get a deal on re-signing him. We’re walking a tightrope here.
We should if they land ahead of us in the draft and take Wagler.Should we be worried about the Clippers again? lol
This will, however, be official Jazzfanz lore in a couple of years. Watch.
Imagine we walk away with Boozer and Wagler for Kessler if Indy offered it to us.
They do not own their own pick.We should if they land ahead of us in the draft and take Wagler.
Plus it's not a guarantee the guy we end up taking in the draft will be better than Kess... We drafted enough disappointments alreadyWe are done accumulating assets. We have assembled a team. All of the people "tHerE iS no pLan!!!!" THIS is the plan! We have our starting lineup. We have the makings of a versatile and cheap bench. We ARE in fact bringing Kessler back. Future draft threads can burn in Hell. We have insulated ourselves if the lottery screws us again.
I look around at the absolute wreckage of teams after this deadline and thank God that we are done with that (well almost.) Good times are here! Our players are young and we don't have to worry about Conley's hammy. The longest threads will be game threads and not just losers bitching about Cody Williams.
Re freaking joice!
I'm talking about the IND pick that has a 47% chance of landing in 5-9.They do not own their own pick.
Could definitely be the case. Although I think I'd still prefer a pick in the 10-13 range in this year's draft over a 2031 pick.My best guess is that LAC included the 10-30 protections and not IND. I think it's just protection in case IND does go for it so that they maintain a more premium asset (unprotected 2031).
Just really want to underscore that matching any offer on Kessler could be really painful. Or nobody offers him something big and we come out on top? It is a gamble. With how much salary we just took on at a super premium price tag, overspending on anything else quickly becomes substantially problematic. I'm not necessarily hunting for assets, we are just in a VERY new cap environment that handsomely rewards frugality and lashes lavish spending. We are done accumulating assets. Well we don't have to worry about the Pacers making that offer anymoreJust really want to underscore that matching any offer on Kessler could be really painful.
