What's new

#34 Thunder at Jazz. 6pm mtn

At this point I'm just watching for Mitchell and he doesn't disappoint. I don't think this team is making the playoffs. We are just an absolute mess. We need Gobert bad. I know he wasn't playing well off injury but we need him healthy. Mitchell Gobert and Hood. Please put 3 and D guys around them this summer thanks. Favors is done here, I think. Get a stretch 4 to go next to Gobert. Either Exum finally is healthy and roll him and Mitchell out with Hood as the six man or find a point guard who can shoot to put next to Mitchell. Profit.

I really hope Exum become a really good player. Quite honestly, we need athletes who also play smart. Right now, the opposing teams are generally much better athletically/physically

Any word on what Westbrook said to Mitchell after the game?
“I’m going to join you in Utah when I’m a free agent but keep it under your hat. I’ve only told you and some guy named Boris.”

Burks minutes slashed big time for some reason. Thought he played ok. 12 minutes, 4 rebounds, zero turnovers, couple of buckets.
I didn’t see any glaring issue to put him in the doghouse tonight.

There is no issue or reason. Quinn occasionally has his head up Ingles/Rubios/Hoods posteriors which clouds his judgment and almost turns him into Ty Corbin. Burks has been rebounding well whenever he gets minutes, and has been playing within the offense as much as any other person who does any dribbling. Of course, I would start Burks with Mitchell, Thabo, Jerebko, and Gobert. I can't figure out why Burks is always short leashed to an anvil, and others get to do whatever they please with no strings attached. He deserves to play.

Agreed. Thought he could have played more with everyone else having a terrible night offensively. Plus, I think he plays well next to Mitchell. I think Burks can make bad plays when the offense stalls and can't find anything (which is often) and so he takes it on himself and forces something. I think he plays a lot more comfortably when the offense can run through the one player it can run through, the rookie.

Burks has also been much better at home than on the road this year.

It was also nice to see Hood have his usual suck it up game after a great game. The only consistent thing about Hood is his inconsistency.

OKC really made it tough for him to be effective, but yeah... seems to happen a lot.

“I can’t say all of it,” Mitchell said of the conversation. “He did just say, ‘Keep going. Don’t stop.’ I think that’s been the biggest message I’ve got from guys around the league. It’s easy to be complacent and that’s my biggest fear. I don’t want to be the guy whose first few games out he does well and then just falls back. I want to continue to build.”
