What's new

#34 Thunder at Jazz. 6pm mtn

Ingles is too soft on defensive rebounds.

In my opinion Ingles and Joe Johnson should not play at the same time, they are both too slow and unathletic.

I'm always shocked how often NBA players fail to box out. It's 2nd nature to me and I suck at basketball.

going to have to say Johnson looks dead out there, on defense he barely moves around, and ingles looks soft on the glass.

At this point I'm just watching for Mitchell and he doesn't disappoint. I don't think this team is making the playoffs. We are just an absolute mess. We need Gobert bad. I know he wasn't playing well off injury but we need him healthy. Mitchell Gobert and Hood. Please put 3 and D guys around them this summer thanks. Favors is done here, I think. Get a stretch 4 to go next to Gobert. Either Exum finally is healthy and roll him and Mitchell out with Hood as the six man or find a point guard who can shoot to put next to Mitchell. Profit.

Burks minutes slashed big time for some reason. Thought he played ok. 12 minutes, 4 rebounds, zero turnovers, couple of buckets.
I didn’t see any glaring issue to put him in the doghouse tonight.

Agreed. Thought he could have played more with everyone else having a terrible night offensively. Plus, I think he plays well next to Mitchell. I think Burks can make bad plays when the offense stalls and can't find anything (which is often) and so he takes it on himself and forces something. I think he plays a lot more comfortably when the offense can run through the one player it can run through, the rookie.

I got on here to ask about Burks, then I read your comments.

While Burks is quite the enigma, I have been and continue to be puzzled by the way the Jazz use him and treat him. As a young recent draftee Burks sat and watched reportedly because of the mistakes he made while Hayward was given ample minutes to play through his mistakes. Burks played 300 minutes less in his rookie season compared to Hayward’s. And nearly 1000 minutes less in his second season. Hayward started, Burks sat. Hayward had plays designed for him, Burks got garbage time.

Then the injuries happened, and a 10 million dollar extension.

Now, Hayward is gone, but Burks is still sitting, still getting mostly garbage time while the Jazz force the ball through Rodney Hood, and let Hood play through his mistakes.

I’m not a coach, nor a stats geek, so I don’t understand why the jazz decided Hayward and Hood would be highlighted and allowed to play, while Burks gets inconsistent minutes and no clear role despite his performances.

Maybe most of all I wonder what might have been for Burks and the Jazz had Alec been the emphasis rather than a side note.

playing well .. meh He's not even in the same ballpark as what Mitchell is doing. I'd say we still win that trade by a mile.

From everything I've heard is that the Nuggets wouldn't have drafted Mitchell had we not traded for their pick, if I recall they didn't even work him out. I'm just not sure why they drafted someone at the same position as Lyles, so both won the trade IMO. In fact it seems the jazz are about the only team that seemed to really like Mitchell, and it seemed there were a few teams that saw something in Lyles.
