The Jazz signed Carlos Boozer on July 30, 2004. There was controversy from the get-go as Cleveland claims to have had a handshake contract agreement for Boozer in place when they (Cleveland) declined their team option on Boozer's contract. Boozer would draw much criticism from Jazz fans for a lack of defense, lack of toughness, and missing time due to injury. In his 5th game with the Jazz he made 5 FGs (out of 15 attempts). Had the Jazz won the game they would have been off to a 5-0 start to the season. Boozer was a double-double machine, averaging a double-double in his last 4 season here. He would've had 5 double-double seasons with the Jazz but he came up about 30 rebounds shy of being able to round to 10 in 2004-05.
Boozer is at #5 in the all-time Jazz rankings in the following categories: PPG (19.3), Defensive rebounds (2774), and Win Shares per 48 minutes (.160). In his final season with the Jazz, Boozer was 5th in the league in rpg. Boozer went to the Bulls in a sign-and-trade that saw Boozer sign a new 5-year contract, although he could be amnestied before playing that out.
