What's new

5 year old kills 2 year old sister... with a birthday present.

That just screams for better control. How to do it? Not sure I can answer that.

That's the rub, isn't it? Even if the answer was taking away all the guns (I don't believe it is) how do you do it? It is truly an impossible task.

This is why we need to stop this pissing match about gun rights and start talking about how to regain our civility.

But Chicago has a higher murder rate than other cities that do allow concealed carry. You ignore those cities but do not ignore the few cities that do have a higher crime rate.

So, you point is that concealed carry doesn't matter? My point is that this type of data, without looking at confounding factors, reveals nothing. tomayto, tomahto.

Also I notice how once again you are linking wikipedia as you are a wikipedia scholar/psuedointellectual.

Are you claiming the data is wrong? Would the same data have been more convincing if I linked to the sources wikipedia links to? Are you just trying to cover up your failure to produce a cogent argument with irrelevant attacks?

The vast majority of cities that allow concealed guns have far fewer crimes and murder than Chicago.

The vast majority of cities that don't allow concealed carry have far fewer crimes and murder than Chicago.

It is ok One Brow, hopefully when you are 12 or 13 years old you will develop some sort of rationality and will not be so easily humiliated and defeated in debate.

Thanks for your encouragement.

What punishment could society possibley inflict on the 5-yr old or his parents that is worse than the consequenses they are already living? What benifit would society gain from enforcing more punishment?

Do you say the same thing when mothers drown their children? Or, are you only lenient when guns are involved?

Please do not provoke the bot.

Isn't it a shame you are continually out-argued by a bot? Some people would be embarrassed.

Really?

You're just arguing for the sake of arguing now, aren't you?

No, I mean that waiting for humans to treat each other better is a fool's dream. It won't happen. Now, if you think the choice to limit guns in some fashion is counter-productive, than this is where we will stay. If you don't find that acceptable, we need to work for change that can be accomplished.

Are you asking me to do your research? If I answer those questions, will there be new ones?

I don't care about it enough to research it myself. I do believe they are pertinent questions when establishing whether their gun control measures had any effect on crime there, or more importantly, what sort of effect they had.

It's a lot harder to hide a gun from observation than a few small bags.

Again, is any of this based on what you have seen?

Well there have been thousands of these guys arrested for possessing illegally obtained firearms, so yes, I don't think it's a stretch to believe they'll possess them if even more stringent gun control measures are enacted.

If it were up to me the only legal firearm would be a 9mm handgun with a 12 round capacity, and even then you would have to go through a thorough background check and mental heath evaluation and go to classes on how to shoot in order to get a license. I mean, if people need to protect themselves or their home, all they need is a handgun.

As for hunting rifles, just start renting them out and having ranges to get familiar with it before you go hunt. ****, I've shot with my uncles gun and it didn't take that long to get used to. Also, why in the hell did a FIVE year old need a hunting rifle?? I don't know where he lives or what the regulations are but I'm pretty sure a toddler isn't allowed to hunt anywhere.

Oh, and anyone spewing **** about the second amendment has a thumb up their *** and are completely ignorant to what the 2nd amendment actually means.
