No mention of him in the ESPN early simulation of mvp voting....unfortunately. And ESPN’s simulation follows pretty much the identical path that the actually voting does, so...

It won't matter how well we do or how historic Gobert's output or advanced stats are, he's not a dynamic exciting score so he won't be considered. If we had some astronomical success, like got to 70 wins or something stupid I'm sure Donovan will be in the running, but Gobert will be left out. Being the heart and anchor of the best team isn't enough because defense and offensive efficiency and presence aren't sexy. Unless GS completely falls apart it will be Steph.

He's a Cinderella for sure...but Jokic opened the door for centers I guess. It's about time he got more than just DPOY recognition. Five games with 20 or more rebounds and leading in that category overall by over a board a game. How does anybody make that kind of jump? And it's like year to year with this guy. When does he max out? We're just so spoiled to have him. I've been watching basketball a long time and I've never seen a player improve so much and so rapidly like Gobert has.
 
I don't think our defensive system holds up against adequate talent and gameplans during the playoffs, but in the RS Gobert has been routinely a top 8 (maybe even higher) player in the league.
 
There were even some people who questioned him being the DPOY last year so how can you expect that he could be recognised as candidate for MVP...
