A brush with destiny -- Celtics at Jazz 3/28/2018 7:30 pm MST

Well that was disappointing...

Sometimes the main guys just aren’t getting it done.

Exum and Favors should have played the game out tonight. Rubio, Ingles and Mitchell just didn’t play well tonight.

The Jazz are a limited offensive team. They have a few plays they can run, but when they go against good defensive teams that take those away, they tend to struggle. Tonight was one of those nights.

Royce is getting too many minutes for not contributing on offense. That wide open three from the corner was fugly.
Yeah I really don’t know why he’s lost such confidence in shooting. He hurt his shoulder at one point and I wonder if it still has issues. He was shooting much more willingly before that injury.

Exum played well in that stretch while the game was still loose. In the final minutes where everything comes to a screeching halt and the Celtics go to a zone, I struggle to believe Exum is a better option than Rubio.

That’s where having Exum in over Rubio could have changed the speed of the game.
Don’t play to the oppositions tactics, if Exum can speed up the game late then get Rubio out.

So Rubio is our closing SG then? who had no confidence in his 3 ball tonight, cant penetrate and gave up dumb fouls... right.

Also, it came to a screaching halt because we walked the ball up the court every ****ing possession.
Rubio does penetrate. He drew 6 foul shots tonight, was the 2nd leading rebounder, had the most assist, and didnt get scored on by Terry Rozier to ignite the Celtics comeback.

Got to give credit where it's due. Stevens 2/3 zone won the game. It forced us away from the corner threes forcing us to shoot above the break. With Ingles off the mark we couldn't spread the defense.

Rudy had a hard time controlling the ball with three men swiping at it. If he was able to convert a few of those near the bucket it would have also broke the zone.

I'm glad Snyder took out Exum. He was shook up after that spill. Even though he was playing great I'd rather lose this game, and perhaps even our chace at the playoffs this season rather than have Exum hurt again.

The positive we can take away from this is we can see that we really need to create an answer to zone defenses. Rather figure that out now instead of game five of a series.

Exum isnt going to speed the game up in those crunch time minutes.

That Exum block on the fast break was great. Exactly what I was hoping to see from him when he got back. I agree with the sentiment that Utah has a shooting problem right now. They still make the playoffs, but they need to fix their shooting if they want to compete.
