A Place for Conservatives

They aren't forgetting, they just don't care. For many Republicans the bar has been set at Russian collusion. Any wrongdoing by the president or his team that doesn't reach that level literally does not matter to them.

In my experience this is because where Trump is concerned they aren't particularly worried about what's right or wrong, but instead in being right or wrong. All they care about is winning and owning the libs.
That's really all anyone cares about anymore. Believing they are in the right rather than working to do what is best for the country.

Yeah I disagree that that's all anyone is doing. There are plenty of examples of people working to improve things for the country.

Not all anyone is doing, but all they care about.

Do conservatives ever enter into drawings, raffles, lotteries, etc?
Do they eat free food when it's available?

If so, please stop participating in these things. Handouts, free things that weren't earned, socialism. Slippery slope people.

Great video from John Stossel

I like John Stossel a lot. It might blow several minds, but I was a libertarian warrior on jazzfanz for many many years. But no one (by no one I mean most of the liberal minded people here) ever took my disclaimers seriously. I said plainly that we DO NOT live in a libertarian nation. That you can NOT get to libertarianism from "here" (meaning within the constitutional framework of the United States). And most importantly, that libertarianism DOES NOT work piece meal. Meaning that you cannot pass this libertarian law and that libertarian law within a non-libertarian framework and expect libertarianism to work. I beat my head on that wall for many many years here. One Brow is one who I would assume might remember. Babe used to send me encouraging DMs telling me to keep up the fight. I think it was NAOS or idestroyedthetoilet who sent me a DM saying that eventually I'd grow up and out of my libertarian idealism.

Anyway, if I wanted to play libertarian advocate I would destroy any of this boards so-called neo-con libertarians with the actual consistency in my ideological premise on libertarianism, because I actually understand what libertarianism means, good and bad (there is plenty of both).

But I made a decision after my first perma-ban, I decided I didn't want to make philosophical/ideological arguments in debates that were fundamentally utilitarian. I was going to argue based on the world we live in and not based on the world I thought we "should" live in. I was going to advocate for making this non-libertarian nation as good as it could be.

Now, you want to talk to me about how things should work in the first colony of people on Mars, I'm going to make a VERY extreme argument for libertarianism. You want to talk to me about how food stamps should work, I'm not going to lean on libertarian principals AT ALL. It makes no sense in that context.

You were one of the people willing to put up with me. :)

I think libertarianism could work well in a small community like that. I certainly can't argue that it would not. Many of it's flaws would be covered over if you have to see the people you dealt with every day.

Edit: Sorry for the slip. I forgot which thread this was. Won't happen again.

Hey, did you people see Alex Jones' hilarious deposition, where he's forced to admit to his lies (he literally says that his so-called sources are just random posters on 4chan)? I thought you guys should check it out, since a lot of "conservatives" sure seem to love that guy!

Hopefully he loses everything!

I find this hilarious. He claimed it was some kind of psychosis that caused him to believe all the conspiracies, particularly that Sandy Hook was staged with crisis actors. He was in full cover-your-*** mode. Big big blow to all conspiracy theorists out there.

I think this misses part of the conservative argument. Correct me if I’m wrong self identifying conservatives.

It’s not about help as much as it is gov. mandated/forced help.

Charities and the like are often used as a counter to this.

True. Was Fish serious, though? I took his post to be humor. I laughed.

Alex Jones is hilarious. If anyone has ever actually taken him seriously than perhaps they need to reevaluate their ability to see through BS.

This American Life talked about Alex Jones on what I think was last week's episode. Talked to a bunch of people he went to high school with and talked to Alex himself. Interesting stuff.

It was two weeks ago.

Really hard to believe you like John Stossel? Have you actually watched some of his recent videos?
