That's possible-ish. I seriously doubt it would be a "go talk on Reddit" kind of gig. Can you even imagine the potential downside of such a thing to have a bunch of quasi-trained internet volunteers chatting on boards, and then have them be officially affiliated with the campaign in some manner? All it takes is getting one yahoo to say something super dumb and then it's an official campaign statement.
Everything about how campaigns operate is designed to limit and control the number and types of channels of campaign speech. It's the reason "surrogates" are chosen carefully and screened.
If he's making out some people who share their political opinions out to be a secret, well-organized cabal - I don't even know what to tell you.
