What's new

A trade is brewing...

It's not hard to replace a PG that is undersized and doesn't play defense.

Who on the Jazz play defense if you want to go about it that way... trash the whole team, start from scratch. They all suck like a Hoover and will never get any better. A witch that weighs the same as a duck... burn her!

Yea, no one played great defense, not even Favors.

So let's talk about undersized then. Is Hayward undersized for a SG/SF? Is Burks undersized for a SG? Is Favors undersized for a PF? Is Kanter undersized for a C? Is Burke undersized for a PG?

Burke is the same size as Chris Paul was when he came in the league. I'm not concerned about his size. I'm concerned about his abilities. I'm also concerned about his fit: you can't have him, Hay, and Burks on the floor at the same time unless you want to surrender a helluva lot of points.

I'm not convinced he's undersized.

If you're saying he sucks defensively that's something different I would have to look at.

Still not ready to give up on Burke. Do you have another reason? If we got rid of him for someone clearly better I'm game, but to do so for someone even less proven than he is, no thank you.

Define clearly better.

Chris Paul is special. He's got elite news is just about every ability.

What is Burke's elite ability?

I am worried about his defense, but clearly I am and should be worried about the defense of everyone on the team. Favors included based on our team defense last year even if he's the best of the bunch.

I think he sees the half-court better than the vast majority of PGs. He's able to see, in advance, where he needs to get to. He's still developing all the moves he needs to get there, and I think he'll get there.

My problem is on defense. I never saw him take away very much from any ball handler.

I'm also concerned about his playing tempo. If what he said was true, he was the main reason the team barley pushed the ball.

Every other player in the "core" would thrive dramatically in an up tempo system.

Team defense is different than individual defense. Our team defense sucked which makes individual defense look even worse. Plus when you are a forward or center you look even worse defensively when the guards aren't doing their jobs.

Could that explain Kanter's defense?
