A (weakish) Case for Why Marvin Could Have a Big Year in 13-14?

My hell.

Have none of you heard of "contract year?"

Of course Marvin is playing good ball now. The question is will he be the same after he gets a new deal?

I think playing on a team with lower expectations could do lots for the progression of his game. He seems to have the perfect profile for a stretch-4, and as you said he has the athleticism and finishing to seemingly make up a good cutter.

I think this years offense will have to rely more on versatility than reliability. Instead of trying to free up the low block for one of the best scoring big men in the league, our scoring will predicate mostly off of the break, quick offense, and UNEXPECTED offense. In this sense, I think Marv could see a boost in production

Marv will be an interesting side story in an already exciting season. Curious to see how he's used-- I'm betting that it won't be the exact same

High five, Dalamon of 3 months ago!

Agree totally- Marv is playing for his livelihood here, I'm glad he's playing better but as well pointed out (see above) but will he play like this next year if he's resigned.
That said I could honestly see him or Jefferson resigned, but not both- question is if that happens whats he worth?

He could have just as easily tried in his contract year and fallen on his face. Who cares what he plays like next year because we are going to trade him anyway.

Check the dates on those posts bro and calm the **** down.

Srs, why are you so angry?

There's another thread of this very same subject.

People obviously have forgotten that this is his contract year. Of course he's going to show skill and effort that he hasn't shown in years. Pull your head out of your butt and move on.

Resign Marvin and you're locked for 2-4 more years of what you saw last year

That's funny because most of the posts I have seen people are excited about what we might get out of him in a trade. I don't think anyone has forgotten that this is his contract year. It's good thing by the way. A contender could take him on for the season without being required to pay him next year. Everybody loves a free trial.
