Aaron Gordon, a No. 5 Pick?

It he could play sf i like idea to bring good athletic defender to Dance with LBJ , KD, Carmelo, just to mantion a few._

If Snyder has much input, Gordon is going to be the pick imo. In his interview with David Locke, Locke comments about Snyder writing 14 pages on the pick and roll. Snyder says that "pick and roll defense is what gets coaches hired and fired, and I was just trying to not get fired".

If you play Gordon at SF, he isn't going to factor that much in PNR defense.

You still have to think about all the things that go into team defense such as rotations and defending in space all things that Aaron does well. Gordon will have an impact on the entire defense even when he's not defending on ball or in PNR action. Not to mention in the clutch he'll probably be guarding the other teams #1 options. So he'll be involved in a lot of PNR defense.

Come playoff time it becomes a bigger factor especially against these elite teams with great wings who run the pick and roll.

If he has the ability to play SF on the defensive end and gets that outside shot. I am all for it.

Using him at the 4??? Not so much.

His DX video showed he is a good off-ball defender. I have hig confidence in this aspect of his game.

If that's what he said then I would think he's hinting at Smart. P&R defense typically involves a guard (usually the best ball handler on the team) and a big. We already have 2 defensive bigs, Gobert and Favors. I don't think there are any upgrades to be had at 5. However, Smart would most likely be an upgrade over Burke.

So if you want to use the P&R quote then I'd say he's leaning specifically to Smart, not Gordon.

If you assume he just wants to improve our defense in general terms, it could go either way Smart or Gordon.

Overall, I think we're over analyzing his quotes to confirm to our desired picks for the draft.

So we want him to leave other team's #1 option to help on the P&R that is occurring on the other side of the court?
