Aaron Gordon....Are you serious? Disaster.....Disaster.....

I also think we need a guy like Gordon as a leader... he is vocal, but doesn't seem to be too much talk. Favors, Hayward, Burks, and Kanter are awfully quiet. Not sure on Trey's leadership yet.

MKG is not a great comp... he can only play the 3 and his shot is beyond broken. If Gordon was only going to be able to play the 3 I wouldn't be so high on him. I just think the downside of Gordon is less than guys like Vonleh (although I like him a lot too) and Smart. If he doesn't become a good shooter, then I think he is Shawn Marion. If he becomes a good shooter I think he'll be one 2 or 3 best players in this draft.

Marion was a career 49%/33% shooter. If Gordon becomes a GOOD shooter, he's a Shawn Marion.

At this point, I really don't care whether the pick is Gordon or Vonleh. IMO, Noah will be special. But Jazz can swing for the fences, hope Gordon becomes an all-star and Kanter becomes an all-star. Otherwise, Jazz are still left with a gaping wound at SF unless Hayward plays that position.

As far as Gordon goes I chastised yamyam for saying Gordon wouldn't improve his shot, but at the same time it doesn't mean Gordon will just because of high character and being a hard worker. I remember MKG being as highly thought of and having the same character strengths, and MKG has shown little improvement. Not saying he won't, I hope he does improve, but I'm, not counting on it and the rest of you shouldn't either.

Semantics, but I think of Shawn Marion as an average shooter. 49% is above average 33% is below average. Gordon will likely shoot 50 ish percent... if he could hit 35% on 3s he'd be special. He may not end up being that good.

I like Noah too... I'll probably talk myself into either guy when we pick them... or Exum, Smart, etc., because I'm a homer. The only thing with Noah is that I think his floor is lower. Watched him a bunch this year and was puzzled why he didn't play more minutes or see the ball more.

I just think the overeaction that because Gordon isn't a knockdown shooter we shouldn't pick him is a little off. Now if he was exclusively a 2 or a 3 and can't shoot then I'm out.

Any "analyst" bringing up MKG in relation to Gordon should be mocked to derision because they are simply spitballing.
 
From all the guys in our range I think Aaron is the clear cut choice. The other guys don't seem to have that fire, and confidence that Gordon does.

Vonleh looks a little timid, admits he's young, shied away from the star question. Smart might fit some of the things we are looking for, but we apparently don't want him,
or are just wildly smoke screening. Something bugs me about Exum, and he's shown zero interest in coming to Utah. Randle isn't a star in the making. And isn't a huge upgrade from
what we have.

Gordon's mindset and attitude is heads and tails above the others choices. As flawed as he is, he's the only chance at a stud/star we have.

Vonleh: #humble
I see no problem with avoiding the "star" question and admitting you're young. Good to be coachable. I'm ok with Vonleh or Gordon.

Honestly, if he's the best pick. . . then I could really care less.

I'm not a fan of Exum. I think he has the highest bust-factor of all the top picks. I'm a big fan of Aaron Gordon. If they can't get Wiggins or Parker, then he's the guy I want.
 
David Locke did a podcast with the Warrior's broadcasters about the draft. David Locke really likes Gordon and said that part of him thinks that Gordon should be the #1 pick. Said his downside was Shawn Marion.
