According to Ford- Milsap/Harris could be traded on draft day

The irony being rich as Millsap clearly became one of the best players (3rd best at worst), hence people swinging wildly from Millsap being our savior to being 2 short lol

I also saw him falter against bigger PF's. Millsap had a great 1/4 of the season. He was averaging 20/10 and then his performance tailed off. Same as the previous two seasons. When he replaced Boozer on a temporary basis, he had a run of great games. Then he would wear down or get injured. I LOVE Millsap. Paul is a warrior. He has a terrific attitude (or has had one) and work ethic. But I want the beast of a few years ago, The guy who would come in for 20 mins/per and take no prisoners. IMO, Paul can be an average starter or he can be a dominant 6th man. I know what would help the team more, especially when there is a 6'10" big, young, tough defensive-minded PF ready for additional minutes.
 
No I'm not basing Millsaps game on one game there was another game when he scored all the points in overtime and a bunch in the 4th and we ended up winning the game. If anything he is the only player that took over any game. Now later in the season he began to tail off. Yes, but what was happening at the same time? Big Al was coming into his own. I think he is a great starter and he doesn't have to settle for a 6th man role. It is difficult because it seem like the Jazz keep trying to upgrade the same position over and over again. But, I do think Favors is a year or two away and in the mean time lets let Paul prove himself.

You would give up Devin Harris and a lottery pick for Jimmer. Are you nuts?
 
bottom line, you don't trade Millsap unless you get a better starting caliber player back. I mentioned Bogut before... Wonder if ATL would be up for moving Horford?
 
I don't know if it was a fan pipedream or an NBA "Insider" rumor, but the only Milsap trade scenario that I've like is the one in which the Jazz land Danny Granger, and that seems like a long shot. Other than that, the other scenarios have been simply terrible.

Keep Milsap and MAKE him play the 6th man. Even if that pisses him off, he's still going to be a gamer and the Jazz have him under contract for 2 more seasons. By that time, he may realize how much better suited he is as a 6th man. If 2 years from now he's still pissed off, you have a coveted player in the last year of a really tolerable contract. You can easily trade him at that point.

Fact is, with Sap coming off the bench it starts to build much needed depth for the Jazz and keeps a veteran presence on the team. KOC has made no bones about the fact that he doesn't want an extremely young team. Trading Sap in a draft pick deal makes this team even younger.

I agree with this. This is why I think you make Favors earn the starting spot. Tell Favors that he needs to beat up Millsap everyday in practice and the spot is his. That way Millap and Favors both know he deserves the spot and Millsap won't be able to complain about being a sixth man.

What if both Millsap and Favors outplay AJ leading up to the season? Favors has the length and athleticism to both guard 5s and provide good help D (to make up for Millsap's size). Had everyone ruled out AJ coming off the bench?

I've mentioned this in another thread. To me AJ's game doesn't transilate all that well coming off the bench. The best analogy I could give is an NFL Running Back who's a grinder and might only be giving you 3.1 Yards Per Carry in the 1st Quarter, but by the 4th Quarter he's worn down a defense and is getting 5.8 YPC. Jefferson to me is a physical low post player who is going to punish you during the course of a game and get better as the game goes on. Milsap on the other hand is more of a high energy player who could check into a game and instantly give you a flurry of activity.
