What's new

acquire Ray Allen

Paul would be great for a year. Ray .. not sure he'll play more than 40 more games or so ..

Paul has another 3 good years left in him. If our team was 3 years further along, it would make sense. We aren't too the point were we can start attracting end of the line (good) veterans to come play for us.

San Antonio will take him because everyone else will say he's "too old" and he'll burry open three after open three.

That said, I'd like to see Nash and Allen end up on SA and for them to get rid of Parker.

Again I agree with ct. Jazz are not to the point of needing vets to make a push to contend. Jazz are still a couple to a few years away from that. I say no to Nash and no to Allen who is 36. I do not want anyone who is over 30 signed by the jazz we need to develope the core.

Just keep in mind that some of these All-Star vets can help bring the young ones along and their tutoring could be invaluable. It's not about just immediate contention, it's also about the team making progress.

This I can understand but Allen is just going to take time from burks and Hayward. How many more years does Nash have? One of the main cogs in the jazz offense, the point guard, won't be there for the stretch run. I would love Allen showing our young guys have to work. He is one of the best but ask yourself is the cost worth that?

I specifically said no to Ray. Pierce, yes. Nash, yes. Those two add to our team on the floor w/o taking away from our new guys and add TREMENDOUS savvy/experience.

I would take pierce but I still am not a big fan of Nash. I would rather draft lillard or even marshall and watch him develope with this core.

I'd argue that with Nash's need for reduced minutes, development would still happen with Nash. And either Lillard or Marshall would take some time to develop. I'd think Nash is the perfect tutor.

Are you saying that you didn't like Howard "teaching" the young kids how to play?

I agree with those who say no -- Nash could be an exception with reduced minutes because he doesn't take away from the core 4. But the others would be good for teams that just need a little more to push them over the hump -- though not sure which teams, off the top.

I doubt Pierce goes anywhere until his contract is up - and then he'll probably just retire. He's loved in Boston big time - he'll be a Celtic for life.

Allen is done - he looked 45 years old in the playoffs. I wouldn't touch him. Boston will let him walk and give Bradley a chance.

I'm interested to see what Brandon Bass does, he has a player option for 4 mil. My guess is he becomes a FA and tries to get a 3 or 4 year deal.

I really like Ray Allen. And I think he'd be terrific as a mentoring figure/leader. But how much does he cost at his age? And he probably takes good opportunities away from Burks, Hayward, and/or yet-to-be-acquired guy.

I can't say I'd be upset if the Jazz signed him. But it wouldn't be prudent.
