Adding another wing to the Jazz

Would you make this trade for a decent wing player?

Wow, damning. A guy complains to refs. The Jazz have never had a head coach for 23 years that has ever done that.

You have to do better than that, especially for posting the longest response in this thread.

Point taken. I should have made a better argument to begin with, but took the lazy path instead. I'm pointing out a trend, not the fact that he gets technicals. I say the guy is a head case, then immediately see an article that he is suspended for complaining (couldn't have asked for better timing from Jacko).

The disturbing parts about him (in no particular order):

suspended for verbally abusing referee
shouted at the officials after the game
suspended in 2009 after reaching 16 technicals

Look, I know the guy can shoot, defend, etc. etc. I'm just asserting that it would be a recipe for disaster and a potential cancer in the locker room.

At the same time, I also think the Jazz are a piece or two away from being championship caliber. However, Jackson (or Martin) ain't it.

The next person to suggest we trade Memo for Stephen Stinking Jackson will be suspended.
You had better leave the thread in a timely manner too, or there will be fines.

Time to dispel some ********.

Some sources identify Jackson in a more positive manner. Former teammate Tim Duncan once labeled Jackson as the "ultimate teammate" during his days in San Antonio.

Former coaches Rick Carlisle and Don Nelson have constantly referred to Jackson's high character. On the Jim Rome show, Nelson stated Jackson is not simply a good person in the limited world of the NBA, but one of the finest people he has ever known. Former Pacers executive Donnie Walsh, who was principally responsible for the Golden State trade, stated "I love Jack to death. He's emotional and he's going to get technicals. But that's just part of the package. He's a great team guy."

We need Okur's scoring and 3 point shot off the bench. And we need his depth at the center position. Millsap should only play about 28-32 minutes per game so he stays fresh all year. Okur when healthy should play about 24-28 minutes per game.

Lets figure out what Okur brings to our team first. If we start losing and Okur is playing well than we should make a trade but until than lets figure out how he fits into the scheme of things.

I personally would rather take Kirk Hinrich over Stephen Jackson. He is younger and only has 2 years left on his deal. He is a good defender and he shoots better from the outside than Jackson does. Hinrich is a Sloan type player but honestly I would rather have Okur if he fits properly off the bench and I think he will.

Okur will be our weapon that people forget about going into games. People won't be game planning for him. He boxes out better than Elson also so our rebounding will improve when he comes back.

Stephen Jackson's Wiki

I had this guy on a fantasy team when he was with the spurs. Gave some good games.. but he gets a bad rap for the Detroit Incident.

He's kinda like Raja Bell.. Not afraid of anyone, and can bring the nasty when provoked. But do we need another one of those?

Then again, with two nasty wings, why not?

I think something to keep in my mind if we do make a trade once memo is back we will almost certainly reduce our luxury tax bill. Martin makes more and jackson is close. Believe we would try to trade for more like a five million dollar man. Would have to be with a team under the cap though.

REP Giving for the smartest comment of the thread. The Jazz want to unload salary not get equal back or even add it.

Crunch time. Six minutes left to go in the WCF Game 5 with the series tied 2 - 2. The winning team takes control of the series.

Who are the five guys the Jazz put on the floor to close out the game?

I think tonight's game is a prime example of why The Jazz need Memo - the second unit needs a post presence more than the team needs another wing. The Jazz second unit got outscored in the second quarter tonight because they couldn't work the ball inside and had to settle for too many jumpers.

Yeah, Memo makes his living from the outside; but he can bring it inside as well when he wants to and can play with his back to the basket. The second unit is already deadly on defense - they can be deadly on offense if opposing team has to worry about the paint as well.
