Advice needed

Look at it this way. What if Trout actually detests the idea of taking some fly-fishing noob as myself fishing? What if all he really wanted was the business my companies could offer him? What if the only way he is able to get face-to-face time to make a pitch to get that business is through a fishing trip? Do you then feel that he should be able to write-off the expense of that business trip?

Play along with the 'what if's' .. I'm curious your answer.

I am all for simplifying the tax code.
On this one little issue, I would advocate doing away with tax deductions for vacations.
People would not be rewarded for cheating, at the expense of their neighbors.
People would still go fishing.
People would still buy insurance.
We just would not have cheaters paying lower tax rates than honest people.

Could you be any more butthurt, guy? Either that, or your beating this shtick of yours way past the point of no-return.

I love a flat-tax, always have .. now please define 'vacation.'

No point in wasting a lot of time ironing out details for someone who wants a bad system anyway.

Haha, I don't want a bad system .. you're really trying too hard. Let me ask four questions very simply, please answer in the same manner..

1) Do you see how some folks are more risk tolerant, more entreprenuerially minded, have more business savvy, than others?
2) Do you see how offering those people tax shelters that benefit them to steer their monies into job creating/tax revenue generating sectors?
3) Are you really butt-hurt if those that CREATE the jobs and take all the risk actually earn more?
4) Do you really feel they should be penalized by paying a GREATER share?

you are making up hypotheticals....

let's see 20 years of romney and bain returns, and get a glimpse of how things really work

Okay .. thanks for playing (not really). I have to go to work now an CREATE. Others will benefit, tax revenues will be realized, and you will still be thinking that what I am doing is evil. Catch ya later.

don't put words in my mouth.
I do not equate you and Romney, never did.

You yourself say that he does things differently than 99% of the rich.
I think you are overstating it, but we have some common ground there.

I saw that somebody suggested you take up writing. Pretty bad advice there. Writing almost always leads to drinking, too much coffee, and marijuana. Take it from me.

What do all you non-drinkers do in the evenings? I'm quitting drinking tonight .. and not sure what I will be doing for entertainment.

Ideas are appreciated (I'm not into bingo, Uno, or Yahtzee, fwiw).

*and yes, I am serious.

Thank you. You just explained why you have so many damn kids.

Besides movie watching, video games, or reading what is there for a dad to do? Not much I'm afraid.

shine some high-watt spot lights on a basketball court out back. Family tournaments.

Reading is the best idea, though.

We do the bb court thing, but so damn hot right now, even at night.
Reading I enjoy, but with 5 kids saying, hey dad, every minute, it's tough to concentrate, haha.

One thing that seems to work is to replace on "passion" with another. Are you a fitness nut? If so hit the gym. Charities? Volunteer.

The trick is to find what will hold your attention long enough that you don't focus on your craving. Then you have a chance to stay on the wagon. Harder than it sounds. I got my drinking under control because of my kids. however what works for one person will not necessarily work for another.

Good for you on making a healthier life choice.

I am all for you starting new businesses and hiring people.
I think you should do more of that.
That is the opposite of what Romney and Bain is all about.

Hiring people is a side-effect of a successful business, not the sole objective.

Poetry:

Oh, what to do at night
can you see my plight
I don't like tv
I'm talking to ne
someone get him out of my sight!

anonymous "people" give me advice
ways to give my life spice
I should smoke more weed
I should try to breed
nice tries, but I say "no dice"

my first UFC fight?
I'm soft, do you see my plight?
I'd go down hard
though I'm no tub o' lard
and the pain would just turn me white

I should probably just pick up a book
I might buy some to read on my nook
but I'd need some tips
so don't give me your quips
I don't want your gobbledygook

Thanks for summing up the entire conversation in one beautiful poem.
