Al Jefferson to Utah? ...Mark Stein's Twitter reports

InsideJazzMan just texted me from under Grand Harrisons desk. Official guys.

Ross Siler just tweeted that Kosta Koufos is going to Minnesota in the deal.

7/13/2010: The day that Boom Bitches died.

If it keeps delusional message board Jazz fans from calling for him to get playing time, we are in business!

So true it hurts. Great point. SO sick of the nonstop posts about how we should have groomed Doof by playing him more. The guy sucks, luckily for us, he sucked in less minutes.

Plus gets us closer to being out of the Lux tax without having to trade a player we actually like.

We just have to sign another player though. What did Koufus make, 1.5 mill? We will probably sign a mininum contract to replace him, which is what, 750 K?

Or Koufos was traded to save a little towards matching Matthews' contract. Possibility, I think. Gail Miller seemed pretty upset last season over Portland trying to "steal" Millsap. She and Greg just might be willing to exceed the tax by $5M or so to retain Matthews.

I think it comes down to either matching for Wesley or offering Ronnie B. a contract.

I get but don't see the LA trade comparisons since the LA got to keep Bynum (or Odom take your pick) while the trade itself is only Jazz & Minni, it was for all intent and purposes is a 3 team trade with the Bulls getting Booz or could even realistically say a 4 team with Mathews going to the Blazers for a larger pay day.

I think most people are happy with this trade, it helps ease my mind that Minni fans didn't want to lose Jefferson and the fact that any team that trades players with Minni comes out roses (ie Roy for Foye and KG to Boston). In my opinion at worst case this maintains status qua as far as Jazz remaining a top 5 team, best case is Jefferson maybe not this year but next year settles into the Jazz system and is a beast.

This trade still has some people complaining about KOC but they'd complain if he didn't make a move as well.... for not making a move.
Oh and for the record I still would like AK starting at PF and keep Milsap coming of the bench if Milsap is ok with it.

How do you rank the Jazz as a top 5 team last year?

Wow didn't think about that. Good call.

I closer to agreeing with Numerica which isn't the popular viewpoint. I do disagree about Jefferson being a loser. He has been on crappy teams. I think he will be excited to be coming to the Jazz. Where I agree is that the Jazz overpaid. I was upset that we were offering two first and I thought that was too much. Then we add Kostas which makes giving two picks even worse. The Jazz should have gotten a couple of seconds or told them Kostas and a first. Why would Minnesota do this? Because they are the ones wanting to get rid of Jefferson so the Jazz had the leverage in the deal. I am happy with Jefferson but upset about with how much we gave away. I know Kostas has struggle but he was a first round pick so basically we gave 3 first round picks away.
