Alec Burks: Redemption

I've been thinking about starting this thread for a while now. Burks looks good on both ends of the floor.

Oh man. If Alec Burks just keeps balling. We are in for it.[/QUOTE]

There's no need for me to even say it.. Thats the beauty of these type of things.. I only wish Fish was here to rub it in.

Did you hear that noise? it's the sound of a hundred threads primed for bump material fading into obscurity..

It's pretty simple - you don't play defense, you don't play for QS.

Burks has more than enough ability to at least be adequate on defense - he never was before because he never played major minutes for a coach who demanded it from him (see Corbin).

AB mentioned Thabo been helping him on defense... said he just tries to do what Thabo does.

Still struggles navigating screens but has been decent and then started jumping passing lanes... which is huge because it leads to transition opportunities. Has also had a few where he goes up and just gets the ball with his athleticism. Its clear he is trying on that end.

I think we can officially label Burks a shooter. He was trending that way before his injuries, but that pull up three from the top of the arc is silky as hell.

Fish returns to Jazzfanz and Burks struggles... Maybe Fish's fandom is too much for Burks to handle? His best games were while Fish wasnt on here.

He was not making shots tonight... most of our guys seemed to have dead legs. He still was okay though... didn't go into a huge funk where he was unplayable.

Also has anyone notice his home road splits... dude loves Vivent

This is something I have been thinking all season, but didn't want to bring it up while he was underperforming, because it might just sound like I'm reaching for positives. But, I'm sure an abnormally high number of Burks' missed shots turn into offensive rebounds, has anyone else noticed that? And is there any way to look this up?

Anyone who drives and draws the bigs will setup their bigs for great offensive rebounding opportunities. So even though some of those Houdini shots don’t end well for AB putting pressure on the rim has value.

Burks may be the last chip to fall. Unless its for overs I cant see DL moving Burks until we know whats happening with Hood and Exum. Dude can and always has been able to straight up ball and is great insurance.

DM/Exum
Hood/Burks

A pretty awesome backcourt for $40Mil... with all of those guys capable of sliding to the 3.

Do you think Burks has asspirations to become a starter, #1/#2 option on a team?? Im sure he does, guess it all depends on the next 18months for him.
