Alec's court vision improvement

I agree that Burks has shown marked improvement in his vision of the court. I have been very impressed with him and like him as the 6th man as well.

Has Burks court vision improved or is our offense just tailored to his strengths? Burke manipulates the D and anticipates passing lanes. I believe Burks is just be trained to using the passing lanes that the offense naturally creates. This is still and important improvement but Burks is a scorer first a playmaker a distant second.

To be fair and contribute, you're right. He's getting much better with that, and maybe trusting his team mates more. But in that first gif, he almost botched the pass... Wet bandit had to slide to the right a few feet to catch the ball.

The important part is that he drew the defenders in and then didn't try to take a very hard shot.

There's no point in driving when the engine runs great but it goes right when you spin the wheel left.

A couple things wrong with your criticism. 1. The pass got there without much trouble. 2. Marvin should have been sliding to where the pass was heading. Burks threw it to the correct spot.

Trying a new processor. Which one does everyone prefer?

This isn't just a simple post entry pass. The play was timed perfectly by Alec to put the ball in Favors hands at the right moment, & off the bounce to get into better passing position was a nice touch. Great overall team execution.

Simple pass but it shows how far Burks has come this year. Last season he had no clue how to set up a break and would have ran CJ over to pick up a foul.

He got about one of these fast break assists in each of the last four games I just went through (1/10-1/17).

My concerns for Burks have always been how he fits into a team concept without handling the ball a ton and that he didn't appear to move the needle one way or another in terms of intangibles/leadership/culture/whatever nonsense. There's a thread somewhere out there from draft night 2011 but I suck at finding them.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that he's learned to play off the ball enough to utilize his on-ball skills but that he is essentially an improved version of the player he was in college which is great (his willingness and ability to pass, at least instinctually, has always been there). I still struggle to know what his exact role is but he's playing well enough that it's starting to matter less. It's nice.
