The Miller family has stated several times that if the team is winning they are willing to pay the luxury tax.

Prediction for Forwards:

Lebron, Kawhi, Durant, Green, Butler, Greek Freak. Unfortunately, that leaves Hayward off. Hayward should definitely be above George this year, it is possible he bumps Butler or Greek Freak, but I doubt it. Not that his play didn't earn him All-NBA, but just the way the voting works, and his lack of exposure.

The designated player option can be signed by a player up for renewal, or a free agent. I think if Hayward opts out (doesn't take player option and becomes a free agent) he is eligible to sign the DVP contract beginning next season.

On the Locked on Jazz this morning Locke said that if Hayward made all NBA and still opted out to test the free market that it would be a huge red flag to the Jazz. Would most likely mean he is leaving.

Yeah, if he makes All-NBA and opts out to test the market, then yes, he will be looking to leave. Can't he opt out to just start the DPA contract immediately though?

Larry was a badass that was totally willing to spend money. He had a history of consistently spending money. Since he has died the jazz haven't spent money. I hope I am wrong. But putting the jazz into a trust is bad news IMHO. The money is spread to thin among all the Millereites. They need to prove that I am wrong this year and spend money.
