HH is a solid poster, despite the fact he misjudges smart management for being cheap.

Truth be told, I wish this board had more posters who understood all the inner workings of team building/management as well as HH.

And I do see your point and was merely pointing out in this instance that we will see if they are willing to pay... this is the year that resolve is actually tested in the modern punitive environment. There was no reason to pay LT in the prior years could have added salary but I understand the case against it.

I remember this quote and do wonder if the trust was in part to circumvent Greg or the family from treating the Jazz like a cash cow. It is a business and I understand operating it as such... just not an ideal situation for fans.

I am not just talking about dipping your toes into the LT. I am talking about really being aggressive and spending money. We haven't really seen that since Larry has died. Even more than that we have been way conservative with contracts. Which has cost us. We could have been aggressive with Hayward and signed him to the max instead of making him sign the offer with The hornets.

The Jazz have not spent money in years. My opinion is that this trust has spred the money to thin. We consistently waste our cap space.

The Jazz were the 11th most profligate team on Earth in 2011, finishing between Man City and Bayern Munich on this list:

Since the tank started soon after, it didn't make much sense to keep blowing money on player salaries.

It's not good or bad. We can all be fans on our own terms. I'm a blind Jazz homer. I love the players on the team and always want, and sometimes expect even when it's irrational, the team to be great.

I don't really look outside my relationship with this team and covet other teams players. I have almost no interest in draft prospects until they are selected by the Jazz, at which point I just assume they will become an amazing player.

Plenty could be said about how stupid my approach to fandom is.

The hell you talking about... been a Jazz fan since I could watch a damn TV... was in attendance of the game stockton broke the steals record... attended Game 7 versus the Mutombo Nuggets... spent $700 for tickets to Game one of the GSW series this year where my son and I got autographs from half the team.

I don't give one **** about d-league... the fact that i can point out that we haven't used as much money as we could have to make the team better doesn't make me a bad fan... it makes me an educated fan.

If I've mistaken you for the poster that's always posting about D-league prospects, I'm sorry.

Besides that, I said I was led to an assumption. Google has a dictionary. I made my comment about how I see you based on what I recall you posting over the last season.

Different positions. It's because people voted for Westbrook and Harden as the guards. (At least, I'm pretty sure All-NBA teams voting is done position by position. I could be wrong.)

Jazz only can offer +1 year with slightly more money years 1-4.

Of course he's not in charge any more, and the team is now owned by a trust that doesn't allow the family to directly profit if more revenue is made than expenses are paid out. So it seems like a very different situation now, to me.

If I recall correctly it's especially punitive if a team is over for multiple years in a row. So I can see the Jazz doing it once in a while here or there. But I agree that they probably won't consistently be over the tax threshold.
