What's new

All NBA

So who are the 1st and 2nd team centers? Jokic and Embiid I imagine. I think you could argue gobert over them, but in the general NBA landscape it's a tall order

Touch to get DM in if they've already got Rudy on the third team. Might just fall short to Kemba/Beal this year for this very reason.

What an absolute travesty if Gobert makes All NBA, 1st Team Defense and DPOY but didn't make the all star team.

The only travesty is Gobert has incentives if he is an all-star, which is essentially a popularity contest rather than paying him based on his performance. The ASG is a joke.

The problem with the ASG is that it is a joke, the selection process is a ****ing crap fest and that it actually matters to the players.

Gobert has to make one of the 3 All NBA teams. If he doesn't, they need to scrap the system and start over. Our Utah Jazz have the 8th best record in the entire NBA. Is the NBA really going to say that not one of the players on the 8th best team is worthy of top 15 recognition?

Gobert should be 3rd Team All NBA and Donovan should barely, barely miss 3rd Team.

The joke about ASG is that east gets same number of selections as the west even though the 9th/10th best player on the east probably won't make it to the top 20 list in the West. Even the league acknowledges this fact and have the team captains choosing their own team mates as opposed to the traditional west vs east. The talent gap between the two conferences is ridiculous.

I think the All Star Game should have 28 players. An NBA team can play 14 players a game, so the All Star Game should reflect that roster ability.

At the minimum, there should be 10 players from each conference. The next 8 slots should go to the next best 8 players regardless of conference. This year, I bet there would have been 10-12 players from the East and 16-18 players from the West.

That is only one of the myriad of problems with the ASG. Fixing this problem would do nothing to solve the real issues. Which is that the best players don't always make the ASG. Rudy was good enough to be an All-star in the West. But the selection system is broken so he doesn't.

None of that would matter except that it actually matters to the players. Which is the only reason it shouldn't just be scrapped all together. It's unwatchable.

Does anyone know if a website that is tracking declarations from media voters on dpoy all nba and other awards?
