All-Star Starters Voting Change

Good to know - still haven't watched 1 minute of an All-Star game in 20+ years.

I can't quite figure out if the All-Star game has been this crap all along and I just didn't notice as a kid, or if it's actually good downhill in the past 20-25 years.

I'm okay if Gobert and Hayward don't get picked for the All Star game. This team needs a chip on its shoulder come playoff time. Underestimated and undervalued would go a long way towards the two best players on the team looking to prove everyone wrong.

I would be OK if Hayward doesn't make it, but Rudy not making it would be a travesty. I'd hate to see him dominate all the best centers and then get cheated like that.

It obviously helps Jazz. Gobert or Hayward have no chance to be voted by fans so them getting 50% extra support from media and players is sure help.

I think this helps the Jazz a lot. This could potentially stop an undeserving player from making the team at all which makes it more likely that a deserving player (Jazz player) makes it instead. There have been a lot of starters that would not be on the team at all if it weren't for the fan vote. This change increases that chances that those typer of players don't make it anymore.

What these guys said. Definitely helps the Jazz in my opinion.

but him not making it might make him mad. and we get ubergobert for the 2nd half of the season holding opposing centers to 0% fg shooting and outrebounding whole teams by himself.

remember how malone got mad when he got dissed for an all star spot, next game he scored a gazillion.

this is exactly what we need to get the number 2 spot

Not worried in the least about Gobert playing with passion. He wants to be known as the best there is, and making the all-star game isn't going to make him conceded. Dude has something to prove, and I think Rudy believes he can win an NBA championship.

If he was a borderline all-star and he didn't make it, I'd be fine with it. When he has busted his *** to be the best of the best, I want him to get what he deserves.

Media being involved is a bad idea. Too many players have contract incentives. They gonna give a report to a local guy that didn't vote for them? Even in sports, we should try to keep an unbiased media. This does not help that.

Better than 100% of the vote going to the fans so this at least improves our chances in the future. Don't think it'll help this year, I think the starters look something like this:

Guard: Curry/Harden/Westbrook
Guard: Curry/Harden/Westbrook

2 of the 3 will certainly start, just have no idea which it will be

Forward: Durant
Forward: Leonard
Forward: ??????

I think that last spot could be up for grabs especially if Blake doesn't participate based on his recent injury. I still think it'll take a super human effort from either Hayward or Gobert to get it.

Media already picks All-NBA, MVP, and pretty much every other award. I don't see the 25% AS weight as breaking the camel's back.

I think the 5th starter will be Davis. He's been a monster this year. Hard to argue with his numbers.

But I do think Gobert gets voted in by the coaches.
