You lost me.

You lost me.

When you have NBA All time greats to pick from and you have players like Wilt, Bill, Oscar, Dr J, Big E, Moses, Dominique etc in your hands, you kinda drool all the way through the draft, thinking of the idea that you could get one of'em alongside your pick.

Oh man. Wilt Chamberlain and Shaq are playing side by side, protected by (as if they needed) Oscar, Magic and Dr J.

With the 12th pick in the draft, Jeffrey32 selects:
"The Logo"/ "Mr. Clutch" - Jerry West
West ended his playing career with 14 All-Star, 12 All-NBA Team and five All-Defensive Team selections, and scored 25,192 points, 6,238 assists and 5,366 rebounds in 932 games, translating to an average of 27.0 points, 6.7 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game. Among retired players, only Michael Jordan, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain surpass his 27.0 points per game average. He led the Lakers in scoring in seven seasons, only Jordan had a higher career scoring average in the playoffs (33.5 versus 29.1). In 1979, West was elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Lakers retired his #44 jersey in 1983.West was an all-around combo guard who could take the playmaking roles of a point guard and score like a shooting guard, while being equally strong on offense and on defense. At 6'2", I will probably play him as my starting PG in today's game. In March 2008, ESPN voted West the third greatest shooting guard of all time. While only winning one NBA title as a player, he proved to be one of the greatest basketball minds of All-Time winning 7 titles as a GM (and currently turning GSW into a respectable and winning team for the first time in history).

russell did go against wilt (and owned him) and i think wilt is comparible to hakeem, shaq, kareem

Russell is the best defensive player of all time probably. I do think he might have a tough time against shaq though. Russell would straight shut tim duncan down and he would hold his own against hakeem and abdul jabbar.

Shaq is the kind of dude that no one can really match up with tbh. But then again, just foul the crap out of him.... then at least you can hold him to 25- 30 pts instead of 40-50 that he would score each game if he could make his free throws.

edit: I think lebron is in that category (with shaq) of dudes that you really cant match up against because they are physically freaks of nature

Whatever you think of Russell, the point is that people are very split on how he would do against the centers of the 80s and 90s (and early 2000s). And in a draft that's being determined by the voting public, that's all that matters.

Russell simply isn't a top pick in this thing. It's proven year after year. Even if I personally thought he was the GOAT, I still wouldn't touch him at the top of the draft.

With the 13th pick in the draft, Jeffrey 32 selects:
"The Black Mamba"/ Kobe Bryant
As close as it gets to MJ. Five NBA championships! Bryant is a 16-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, and 12-time member of the All-Defensive team. He ranks third and fourth on the league's all-time postseason scoring and all-time regular season scoring lists, respectively. At 34 years and 104 days of age, Bryant became the youngest player in league history to reach 30,000 career points. He is also the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history, which is insane given Kareem. Since his second year in the league, Bryant has been selected to start every All-Star Game. He is one of the most cold-blooded and clutch players ever. Popularity-wise he is also bullet-proof, earning the #1 vote-getter in last year's all-star game even though he only played a few games. With West as my starting PG, Bryant rounds out an amazing starting, high scoring, and defensively balanced backcourt.

This is true.
its also why oscar, west, havlicek, etc etc all are not worth what they should be worth in these things.

really, instead of all time draft it should be from magic/bird rookie year (79 maybe?) on. Maybe make an exception for Dr J.

Guys like cousy, unseld, frazier, gervin along with those others dont get the credit they probably deserve.
