Team JoelHodgeJr:

SF - Andrei Kirilenko / Glen Rice / Bruce Bowen
PF - Blake Griffin / Pau Gasol /
C - Yao Ming / Marcus Camby

Hotttnickkk's Case

Philosophy

- I've built this team based on the philosophy of defense, inside-out basketball with quality shooters.

- Mutumber, Pippen, Duncan, Howard, Chandler, Kidd and Johnson, these are some of the best defenders who have ever played the game. The depth of defensive presence means this team will always fight hard and will always be in the game (never get blown out).

- Offense will run inside-out through Tim Duncan - a proven winner with 5 Championship Rings.

- Plenty of Scorers & 3pt shooters - Reggie Miller is 2nd all time career 3pt made, Jason Kidd is 3nd all time in career 3pters made. Carmelo is a legit scorer. Tim Duncan and Aldridge can drain jumpers.

- Jason Kidd is a wizard with the ball and offensively can get the ball to anyone, anywhere.

Point Guard

Jason Kidd is one of the few PG who will be able to physically match Robertson. Kidd is physical, but he is also savvy defensively and will hold his own against Robertson In his prime, Kidd is really really quick, and that's one advantage he will have over Robertson.

- 2nd NBA All Time Total Assists

- 2nd NBA All Time Total Steals

- 3rd NBA All Time Total 3-point Made

Shooting Guard

Scottie Pippen is THE BEST wing defender the NBA has ever seen. He is one guy who is physically big enough, long enough and quick enough to guard Jordan. He is as competitive as Michael and make no mistake about it Pippen will make life very very difficult to Jordan.

Small Forward

Carmelo Anthony is a thoroughbred scorer. He has averaged 25.7ppg over his 12 year career and will get his buckets whoever is guarding him.

Power Forward

Wow this is a mis-match. Tim Duncan is going to school Blake Griffin in this series. Offensively he will score against Blake at will and defensively he will overwhelm Blake. Too much experience, too much class, too much size.

Center

Yao-Ming is out-matched here. Dikembe is a 4-Time-Defensive-Player-of-the-Year. He is a physical 7'2 and athletically will bother most shots put up by Yao who is slow... slow.... slow..... Dikembe will stick to him like glue and shut him down.

Bench

- Reggie Miller leads the 2nd unit as the 6th man off the bench - an offensive prodigy and one of the most clutch player to have ever played the game.

- Front line is stacked once again with defensive players: Dwight Howard, Tyson Chandler and Dennis Johnson who was a bad-***.

Conclusions: JoelHodgeJr's Weaknesses are:

1) Lack of 3pt shooting to spread the floor

- Oscar Robertson didn't shoot the 3pt as the 3pt line didn't exist.

- Jordan's a career 32.7%, 3pt shooter

- Kirilenko's a career 31%, 3pt shooter

The lack of 3pt shooting means I can pack the paint with Pippen, Duncan and Mutombo.

2) Lack of Inside Physical Presence

- Tim Duncan >>> Blake Griffin

- Dikembe Mutombo >> Yao Ming

- Dwight Howard + Tyson Chandler + LaMarcus Aldridge >> Camby + Pau

All in all, my team will physically abuse Joel's frontline with no less than 8 DPOY awards not counting Duncan's underrated defensive presence & ability.

Conclusion

This will be a close match-up, but ultimately my team will edge out a 4-3 series win because:

1) Scottie Pippen will give Jordan a very hard time in this series.

2) Myriad of experienced Defensive Players (Dikembe, Duncan, Pippen, Kidd, Dwight, Chandler, Johnson) will keep every game close (8 DPOY Awards).

3) Clutch shooters: Reggie Miller, Robert Horry, Carmelo will sink all last minute shots.

4) Tim Duncan will lead an experienced and physical frontline presence that will completely overwhelm Joel's Blake & Yao Ming.

Joel's Case

N/A

Hotttnikkk for me at PFcombo making the difference and the clutch threats at three point line, but very very close. Jordan is the dangerman but who better to defend him than pippen. No blowout all close games , Advantage Hotttnickkkk 4-3

Just checked in to have fun abooot what JoelHodge's opponent wrote abooot Jordan's weaknesses. Now I can close it.

DaPip plays SF and Nickkk wins.
Otherwise Jr's backcourt dominance >>> Nickk's frontcourt dominance.
Insert Pippen than Nickk wins but barely.
My vote goes to Hawtnicque

addon: but Jr. has Allan Houston who might help his team at spacing.

Joel has in my opinion the #1 and #4 players of all time. That backcourt wins it for him. Pippen is a great player, but also one of the more overrated players. He's a good offensive player, but not a take the game over player, and not any amount of defense will stop Jordan and Oscar.

I totally disagree.

Great defense almost always beats great offense in all major sports.

LOL .. wow, really??? I would say he's actually one of the most underrated players.

Put him on another team, other then with Jordan, and he isn't as highly regarded in my opinion. In my opinion Pippen couldn't carry a team. His career benefited greatly by playing along side Jordan.

Bro, he wouldn't be asked to "carry the team" in this case, you already have Duncan down low and Jason Kidd directing plays. Pippen's role is to stick to Michael Jordan like glue and play distruptive defense. He'll still give you scoring here and there and rebound also.

Defence wins championships .., pippen does not need to take over the game all he needs to do is make it hard for Jordan , hes very underrated defender whilst still capable of a bunch of pts, rebounds...that how he impacts this matchup

You could argue Pippen is underrated overall, but he gets all the credit he deserves as a defender.

Damn, this is close. Duncan has a huge edge, but that Oscar/MJ combo is lethal. I'm leaning hotttnickkk. Melo puts him over the top.

As good as Pippin is at defense, he's not stopping Jordan, and Oscar playing next to Jordan makes him even more lethal.

People forget Jordan was as good of a defender as Pippen.
Exactly what I was gonna write. You took the word out of my fingers. Who's the better defender, Jordan or Pippen?

I think it's very close, I'd say even Jordan if Pippen couldn't guard PFs too.
