Hey, us libertarians see the flag as a holy symbol of something greater than areselves. We like to respect it as it stands for ideals. You libeals want to desecrate are respect for ideals to make us sound crazy? Fine, we 'murica an we damn proud of it.

For me, when I salute the flag I am not soluting blind devotion to country. I am soluting a set of principles and values that make the world a better place. Freedom, liberty, advancement of the human race, democratic decision process, an sharing this with the rest of the world by forcing world peace.

So sorry [MENTION=26]Gameface[/MENTION] for "draping myself in the flag" by seeing a symbol as sacrosanct of these values. I guess I really am that stupid.

In essence so is having weddings funerals holidays retirement parties home welcomings and birthday gifts. That means we should not respect others or ideals? I do not get that.

Sure, it may be silly an maybe you are too wise too not partake in it, but maybe also denying that that is not the world human nature is not the smartest course of action to take.

I ask you have you no customs or culture? Have you no sense of right or wrong or moral code with which to live by? Are there no longer any sacred towers we can construct to idealize the notions?
