American Citizen Sentenced to Death in Iran

Oh yeah, because we all know that asking questions about things IMMEDIATELY makes you a conspiracy theorist.
Thank you for pointing this out.

There is a difference between asking questions, which I think people need to do much more of, and being a conspiracy theorist.

Not implying anything about you. Just an observation.

Agreed.
I never imply anything about anyone.
But good observation..... we used to be a country of people that asked questions, but as the years have passed we're supposed to just accept what were told and stick the questions in a black hole of a suggestion box.

So it was okay to kill them, but to piss on the corpses of an enemy that very well might have killed friends of these soldiers is despicable?

Pissing on corpses isn't really my thing, but if my marine buddies were doing it I think I'd go ahead and join in.

A lot of people have enough trust in government to give the military the benefit of the doubt that their killings are justified at times. Isn't that enough actionable leeway? When you start peeing on corpses, or start treating "prisoners" like garbage, that benefit of the doubt fades.

How would you react if you saw the enemy pissing on our American soldiers? Is it something to be condemned when they do it, but ok for our side?

About as pissed as the fact that they killed our guys in the first place.

We've seen it happen to our guys, a few times. Cases like this come up and our sense of decency is thrown in our face. Fair enough. But why isn't our enemy more universally condemned for not having any sense of decency in this regard in the first place?

I don't really condone this kind of behavior, but I think the outrage is a little overdone.

I believe we've had the discussion before, where if he died in a firefight then that's part of was, but if he was executed after having surrendered, that would be wrong. This action I would rate as less bad than excuting an opponent who has surrendered, but certainly worse than killing someone during a firefight. Yes, this action is despicable.
