Dude went at the team hard... and when I say he went at the team... he went at them all. His last couple paragraphs on DL/JZ were especially pertinent imo. With how bad a fit Green and Davis were how did we think that would work? As a couch GM I knew the stuff I'd watched and raw numbers, but didn't realize how small Davis was, how he can't protect the rim much, and how he's basically a walking turnover in the pick and roll. Our GMs should know that... Green was a m
inimum guy and we needed a guy so whatevs.

Go read his article... he deserves your clicks... good job andy (not sure he has an account here anymore or I'd send it to his handle.)

Yes every other player has faults, Andy really let Conley off here.
I rewatched a couple games I had on the DVR when Mike was hurt. The biggest difference was how close the guys all looked.
Joe was hyping up everyone, talking trash and kicking butt.
Don was the centerpiece and had the ball in his hands every play. He was making crazy passes and attacking the paint like crazy.
Bogey was getting the ball at least 50% more often, and he was making plays.
Rudy wasn't forced to guard every single player, he was much more confident offensively too.
Mike comes in and the whole team stumbles. It happened the first part of the year, he got hurt the Jazz looked like the Jazz of last year, comes back and the whole thing is crumbling again.
Mike usetawas good, this year he's a true cancer. He's the worst fit the Jazz have ever had.

Step back and take a look at what’s happened during the downturns this season.... It’s only reasonable to assert that there’s a disconnect brewing somewhere between the players, the coaches, and/or the front office.

Not sure I follow, but I think Quin is likely not super happy about having a bench full of G League guys he doesn't trust. I think the front office likely doesn't see us as a real contender or you don't just punt the backup big minutes saying "what does it matter... its only like 12 minutes a night.. NBD guis lols". So from that standpoint I think the players and front office are aligned in their contentedness. So maybe the coaching staff isn't in line there?

Has nothing to do with stupid ASG selections.

Teams are going small and The Jazz have no answers - and the fact that they have no answer is killing their confidence as a team and causing them to get frustrated which translates to you and me as a lack of effort.

The whole defense is predicated on the fact that "Rudy has your back." When that doesn't happen the system collapses like a house of cards.

Not sure what the answer is, maybe modified zone when teams go small, but the ship is taking on water here.

That's part of it, but we aren't making basic rotations or putting enough effort in the initial resistance. Watch the minutes when Conley comes out in the first quarter... the defense changes for a couple minutes and all of a sudden we are being disruptive and making rotations... then it completely disappears the rest of the game. BTW... not blaming Conley... that is just when it happened iirc.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record... The media seems to think that Mike is being treated unfairly or that he is getting more than his share of the blame and I don't get it.
If I ran an organization and I gave up significant assets, changed team rules, made accommodations, went out on a limb for, and paid more than two statues to get, I think I would be expecting him to answer some tough questions... Does he not feel any responsibility? I don't think they are protecting him, because the scrutiny isn't there from anywhere except with fans. At least that's what I see... Mike doesn't seem to be taking ownership and it doesn't appear that he is being held accountable for his own ****** play, let alone the team.

Because almost none of the issues last night can be attributed to Conley. The only real issue I see with Conley, other than his up and down play, is that he pushes Royce and Joe out of the roles they were successful in. Now once again, that is not a Mike issue. That is a coaching issue and an issue of Joe and Royce not being good enough to adapt.

He pushes like three guys out of roles on defense that they are better suited for. He kills any defensive matchup versatility. That isn't a Mike problem per se... but more a front office issue. Instead of everyone having adequate size or above average size we are at a size disadvantage.

Mike also has no chemistry with Rudy... Joe does... if Mike is out there just spacing the floor it isn't the best use of his talents. He doesn't seem to get separation either, so he's not creating a ton of looks for himself or others.

It doesn't work... regardless of what the coaches do. Joe and Royce aren't the "borderline all-stars" … it is Mike that should be good enough to adapt... and he has not been.
