What's new

Another OC for the Utes...

This move definitely surprised me when I heard it on my way home from work Friday. So I have had a mix of all the Ute fan's feelings posted.

To me it all hinges on how BJ and Erickson take this. I can see why Whitt would want to keep both on staff for consistency and especially recruiting, BJ has been able to bring in kids from TX and Erickson's name and connection to Florida can never be a bad thing (rumors were he was bringing in a couple of Florida WR's). I am hoping BJ feels loyal to Whitt for giving him his first job and then giving him promotion and I hope he left him with a message that he hopes to be grooming him for the future OC when he's ready.

As for Erickson I think we all knew it was a 1 to 3 year thing anyway and again who knows what Whitt has told him, I would have a hard time they weren't made aware what was going on well before it happened. The fact that this happened so quickly and quietly (at least no rumors I heard) that any interviews or anything not even that Whitt was looking, is a good thing IMO.

I would comment on the other fan base posting in this U thread but why would I value coaching opinions of a team that called to fire their OC and promote the QB coach to OC and when that happens they then want that new OC to be fired and are thrilled to death that the OC they just fired is now re-hired as the OC again.

Meanwhile the U's coaching staff keeps getting raided by Utah St and Weber St

I will miss playing some teams though as it was the easiest game they scheduled all year.

If you have horrible QBs it doesn't really matter who the OC/team of OCs are.
Utah has been seriously Jinxed at QB since Brian Johnson left. I hope it ends soon. Their next 2 QB's both had to/may have to quit football early due to weird situations. Who's heard of a dislocated shoulder ending a career? Or a weird brain thing discovered because of a concussion and not caused by it?
.
And I don't even believe in Jinx's. Just an extremely bad run of luck right there.

This is problem #1, #2, and #3. That's why I don't know if Whitt should be on the hot seat yet. Wynn was done as a sophomore, but Utah was still in the MWC and had trouble getting another QB to come in. After their first year in the PAC-12, Wilson and Hansen signed on. Hansen went on a mission, Wilson started. Then they received three more commits, Manning, Cox, and Thomas. This year, we have another one coming in (Isom). Whitt should be given enough time to have one of those kids make it to his JR year before he gets the axe.

I think I'll just avoid the fact that E.J. effectively brought this thread to a screeching halt with his incredibly keen insight, rapist wit, and all-around bad assishness, (I mean, damn, I even made up one of them-thar "big words") and just make a half-assed attempt at insulting him. (people won't know that it's the best my boxed-wine drenched brain could come up with, so I got that going for me. LOL!!1

Probably your only option up to that point, so no street cred will be deducted.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around any BYU fan coming in here and running smack on Utah football for a couple reasons:

1- WE ABSOLUTELY OWN YOU!

And.....

2- If Utah could swap out Oregon, Arizona, USC, and ASU from their schedule for the likes of Virginia, Middle Tennessee State, Idaho State, and Nevada, they'd be a 8 or 9 win team who consistently beats your beloved Kitty Cats like a drum.

And they still manage to kick your *** with a new OC every year. Cheer up though. At least you guys get to go the next 2 seasons without an automatic "L" on your schedule.

You're welcome.

You missed the part where Trout is NOT a BYU fan. Really he's not. He just likes to hate Utah.
