Hell, the actual Republican platform in 2016 (the last time they had a written one) called for overturning Obergefell.

You don’t think these guys aren’t going to do it now that they have the majority needed on he Supreme Court?

Again, I get that slightly expensive gas is like super annoying. But our democracy is at stake. Vote for republicans means killing off our democracy and killing off Ukrainian aid and empowering Putin. That’s worse than temporary higher gas prices that’ll work out via market forces in the next year or two (as they always do).

I think the order of cases they try to have overturned now is:
Obergefell v Hodges (just red meat for their base)
Lawrence v Texas
Loving v Virginia (This one might be difficult for Thomas to rule against... but he'll do it)
Brown v Board of Education (the holy grail)

Agreed. In order for Loving v Virginia to survive, you’d need both Thomas and someone else (Roberts?) to join the liberals. The chances of that happening? LOL. And technically, they’re not outlawing interracial marriage. They’d just be getting rid of federal protections against states outlawing it. So this provides these deplorables cover, because they’re merely handing red states the gun to shoot interracial marriage. The actual shooting interracial in the head will be done by red states trying to “out fascist” each other as we’ve seen with so many issues lately (library books, history, etc).

This was done to protect women’s sports, protect families, or something something #MAGA.

So are they trying to say that a parent allowing their child to be trans is a form of child abuse? What should be parent do instead? Kind of hard to force a kid to stop being who they feel they are? Believe me, lots of parents try, and that is far more abusive than being supportive of a child during a difficult time in their lives.

I had a friend who grew up in a large mormon family. They were hyper-religious and hyper-strict. She didn't feel the "spirit" the way the rest of them did, and she "rebelled" by hanging out with me and my friends later than her curfew during the summer (wasn't hard, her curfew was like 8 pm), and playing D&D and occasionally drinking a beer some kid would steel from his dad. Oh no! She has a demon and needs an exorcism!! Stat!! She didn't really get into any trouble, but she did things her parents didn't like. They tried to force her to conform. They put stricter rules, read her journal regularly, followed her around, vetted her friends. In the end she kind of snapped under all the pressure, and ended up pregnant at 17 from an abusive boyfriend who was frighteningly similar to her dad (emotionally abusive, not physically, at least not at first). She then snuck away and got an abortion. Then all hell broke loose for her at home, as you can imagine. Locked in the house, couldn't go anywhere without parental supervision, no unapproved friends at all, etc. They started home-schooling her. It was hell. The manipulation and emotional toll was on another level, all in the name of "love" and trying to bring her back to the church, because everyone knows the best way to get people to believe is to lock them up and take away all their choices. After all isn't that what this life is about? No freedom of choice? Ugh. She was messed up for a long time.

But you know what? That isn't "abuse". It is just a protective parent taking care of their wayward child. They have to be strict because she is a wild child. She needs to be protected from herself, right? What great loving parents, who eventually disowned her because she wouldn't conform.

But of course, supporting your trans child and helping them through a difficult time, instead of doing the same as above to force them to "pray the gay away" is abuse. Right?

Good hell our society is so ****ed up.

I think this is why you shouldn't "both sides" things. Democrats are far from perfect but they aren't going to come after anyone for child abuse for letting their kids be how they feel. No one would ever think that democrats would even consider trying to abolish interracial marriage. The two sides are not the same. Whether its equality or gun control or whatever.

If you don’t think these ****ers aren’t going to come after you or your children, I don’t know what to tell you. They’re doing everything possible to destroy our multi ethnic democracy. They want to re-establish a hierarchical patriarchy; an ethnically pure and male dominated oligarchy. This is why they are obsessed with Putin and Orban. It’s why CPAC is going to be held in Hungary. It’s why Tucker keeps going over there. They want to eliminate the LGBT community, women, blacks, and those they disagree with politically.

Rich corporations and churches feed the politicians. Politicians feed the rich corporations and churches. It’s honestly not hard to see. We’re seeing a return to the pre-new deal gilded age of America. Something that resembles modern day Russia and Hungary.

I bet those on the right watch The Handmaids Tale and wish that America was much more like Gilead.

It always depends on the topic.
