Any one here taken the GMAT

To study, I simply bought a $5-10 sample test question book from a bookstore and then spent about a hour or so reading over it one night. You either know the material or you don't. It doesn't help to try to learn the material in a cram session. However, it can be useful to learn the format and the way they word questions so you don't waste so much time trying to figure out what they are asking.

How is the math? I'm pretty good at math but from the book that I bought it looks like a lot of tricky story problems. And how are the two essay questions?

I'm pretty sure you're going to have to graduate from middle school, high school, and college before you worry about this.

Judging by the grammatical quality of your posts and your lack of mental toughness, I'd say you've got bigger fish to fry. Why not give the GED a shot first?

I will be taking it soon. I did some practice questions and did ok. I was surprised I still knew manyh of the algebra questions.

Any pointers or things that I should know?

Here are much better investment options, for you.

The math wasn't that bad for me. It was more them wording questions in way to make you figure out what is relevant and what is not. The essays are not bad if you actually know the basics and aren't just someone who rambles and tries to blow smoke out your butt when you write.

The math is pretty basic but you need to go study old algebra and geometry shortcuts. All of the math you can figure out but speed will make it much easier. On the verbal part if you are a middle or upper class white male then just trust your instincts on what sounds right if all else fails you. If you are not middle or upper class white male you are ****ed on this part unless you do some serious studying. Study guides are helpful in teaching you the major question types and shortcuts to them.
