Any retired jerseys before Gobert?

If Ingles maintains his level of play and the Jazz win a championship, they'll retire his number; of course their winning a championship isn't going to depend on him. But he gives the Jazz similar intangibles as Horny and is just such a unique personality.

True story....last night I dreamed they built a statue for Mo Williams on the plaza. In my dream I got tickets to the game when the retired his number.
Mo didn't do much for us during either of his two year-long stints, so it would take him returning in some capacity and bringing us a few titles for him to get a statue. I'd take that as a good omen.

If I had to pick one, I'd say AK. But, here's an idea, and I don't think any other team has done this:

You don't retire the jerseys, you retire the 2006-07 team that made the WCF.

There are a lot of well liked and notable players on those teams, including the team with AK and Harpring that almost made the playoffs when Stockton and Malone retired. That group had us back to the WCF in what, 4 or 5 years? We had multiple all-stars (Boozer, Dwill, AK) and AK was All Defense three times. Boozer was the first big free agent acquisition in team history, and we may have been set back years if that hadn't happen. Keep in mind, a lot of those players did charity work for the community, too.

So, you take a night, bring in AK, Memo, Deron, Boozer, Harpring, even Millsap, anyone else that made a contribution, and you retire them as a team. (anyone except Fisher.) You put up a banner of the WCF team with all of their names on it. Other players can still wear 8, 13, even 47, but those players are still honored. Best of both worlds.

I’m cool with it all except Boozer

Part of me wants to retire dwill and AK maybe memo but the other part wants me to keep the bar higher. Honacek was third wheel to a two-time finals appearance team and Eaton was a career jazz guy. Don’t think AK or dwill quite get there.

That's right *****es, you know what I'm pointing at.

This is a great post.

I believe the last one was Karl M.

Do you guys see any players that have played for the Jazz since then getting their jerseys retired?

A few to think about : AK-47, Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer, Kyrylo Fesenko
Curious As To How you will feel about Gobert when he heads for a team with a real shot at a Chip!

Guys who've been retired as players:

Dantley - 4
Maravich - 7
Stockton - 12
Hornacek - 14
Malone - 32
Griffith - 35
Eaton - 53

I'd say AK deserves it, he was here for a decade and very good. After that Millsap is probably next in line, but I don't think he gets there. If Favors winds up being a lifer he could wind up closer than some might expect.

If Derrick stays his whole career he deserves to be retired. However, I am not optimistic he is here after this season.
