What's new

Anybody currently collect cards??

I understand it... because it's the closest ****ing thing to having nothing to actually do with cards.

You'll dork out over middle school basketball players stat lines but wouldn't think it was cool to open up a pack of cards and snag a super rare Wuggins card worth $5,000???

Raise your hand if you've BEEN ON a basketball card...

<-----Raises hand

Was on a John Stockton card in the mid 90's. Sitting in the crowd whilst J-Stock performed a layup.

I don't dork out. I break down games.
They're not middle school.. they're high school.

Actually, I was srs.. I could see like opening 'm up and stuff.. but no way interested in like worshiping them and ****.

I despise "collecting" stuff. Something about it is freaking weird to me. Like, wherever I go in life I'm gonna drag around these things I intentionally accumulate?? lol

Buuuut, I collected cards hardcore when I was little, and with this years rookies I think it would be insanely fun to sit down with a ton of boxes of cards and see what you get.

After that, I have no idea what I'd do lol.

heyhey, Panini has the best cards, tbh. Panini Gold Standard is expensive like $150 per pack. Panini Signatures is like $100 per box (comes with two packs). Panini Prestige and Panini Crusade are pretty nice as well, they are about $75 per box (comes with 24 packs with prestige and 12 with crusade). Its a high risk high reward type of thing, tbh. I would honestly buy a hobby box that comes with 24 packs and you are guaranteed 2 autos and 2 jersey cards i.e. You really can't buy a pack for $10-$20 unless you buy a hot pack off of eBay where it guarantees an auto/jersey card. I have done it twice with a guaranteed jersey card (they are cheaper) and I got a Michael Redd jersey card and a Chris Paul jersey card, its basically luck.

I really like that idea though, would be totally awesome to see him open a box with this years draft class's rookie cards in there when he is like 12 or something.

Here is a baseball card that was pulled from a $80 box this year, then sold for $16,000. The odds of pulling it are astronomical, but it'd be fun to go for a similar card like this with any of the top rookies this year.

Just saying it'd be rad to take $5,000 open up like 1,000 pack of cards, see if you get anything super awesome, and if you don't, hopefully have some dude that knows what he's doing help you unload it all and get like $2,000 back. It'd just be fun.

I think spending $100 on cards and having the enjoyment of opening them with a chance of a really cool card is way better than spending it on something else you don't need.

Lets do it?

Somewhere in my parents' attic is my Darryl Strawberry card collection. Every rookie card in mint condition plus about 300 copies of his other cards. Gonna retire on that at some point, but probably not as soon as I was hoping.

What would be the best product to buy thats like what I detailed with the Abreu Superfractor, WC??

We talking basketball right? You would have to buy a case (12 boxes) of something like Panini Gold Standard or Panini Crusade. A case costs anywhere from $700-$900. With crusade you would be getting 72 packs and with gold standard 12 packs. The thing is with these boxes if you bought a case of gold standard you would be guaranteed like somewhere around 24 autos, 12 auto jersey cards, 12 jersey cards, and 12 rookie cards. Would have to check for sure though, but the super cool thing is you would have a chance of pulling a card with actual gold on it, 1/8 ounce or so and the better the card (refractor, serial numbered, etc) just adds to the value of the gold itself. If you bought a case of crusade you would be guaranteed 36 autos and 36 jersey cards, and 12 refractors again I would have to check.

The better the producer of the card the more the card is worth. I.e. a Durant gold standard auto is worth more than a hoops Durant auto.

If serious about buying a box or more, I would double-check and find out the actual number of guaranteed autos and jersey cards, etc.

How many calories is a super gold refractor rookie card?
