What's new

Anybody else think Alec Burks can be a 20-25PPG player with 30+ MPG?

Who would you rather have.....

Burks or young???
Why can't we have both? Jazz need more shooters and if Young can swing between SG/SF then it really works. A rotation of Burks/Young/Hayward would be terrific. The reason why I like Burks off the bench is because he gets to be the man. When Burks/Hayward/Favors etc start then Burks doesn't have the ball in his hands as much. However, I think he or Burke should be the guys with the rock in their hands while Hayward should be more of a spot up shooter.

After all this praise, Alec goes out and lays an egg 1-8.

Expected.

Teams will now gameplan for Burks.

This was the big thing that it Hayward this year.

Previous years, teams really didn't care about Hayward...now they plan for him.

Burks is about 1 year behind Hayward.

He is a talent. For me, he is too selfish. When no one plans for him, he can play alley ball and light it up. When they play like the Clippers did (per Locked) and help/sag/clog lane when he drives...not as good.

As to Hayward, Clippers announcers basically said what we all say, he is a #2 or #3 option. Robin, not batman.

Everyone keeps saying that Burks wouldn't have the ball in his hands if the Core5 were out there together, but the fact is that we just don't know if that's the case because Ty hasn't been willing to consistently use that lineup. I happen to think that Burks play would force the team to make him become the guy with the ball. Two bigs down low, Hayward off the ball and facilitating and taking the pressure off of Burke. I'd love to see it, but have come to terms with the fact that it won't happen until Ty Corbin is gone.

Do you even watch basketball bro? The "Core 5" is the 14th most commonly used line-up by Corbin. Despite the fact that it has the 4th best eFG% and the 5th best eFG% allowed and a better +/- than 9 of the 13 more frequently used 5-man sets.

I was at a party and missed it, but judging from the box score.... it wasnt pretty.
Of course hayward and trey both sucked (according to the box score) and each still got lots of minuted.

Burks was given 16 minutes

because jeffersonw as on fire offensivly while being PWNED on the defensive end.
crobin thought RJ = Vet with hot hand so Burks should stay on bench

Your stats are compelling, but do you even watch basketball bro?

If it were up to posts like this, the Jazz 4th Best If No Ty!!!1111 would be competing for championships.

You're a Ty Corbin fan. I'm not. We can agree to disagree on his value. But you can't say that Ty has a history of playing and developing young talent. Even in a throwaway year he can't bring himself to do it. I never said anything about the Jazz being great without Ty. I think they'd be better. I also think that they'd have a much better idea of what the future holds if he were gone and guys like Marvin and Jefferson barely saw the court.

My personal philosophy is that you should play your top 5 players as much as possible until you have overwhelming evidence that it does not work. Burks is clearly a starter by that standard, but he can't crack the lineup. I'm looking forward to what a good coach can do with these players.

You can only say he doesn't develop young talent if you don't watch the games and get all your information from a message board instead.

I don't need your magical lineup to see what the Jazz have. Novice fans do for some reason or another.

Should have been a poll with this thread.

I went back through all the posts and it seems like these are the results:

People who think burks can eventually average 20 ppg: 17 posters.
People who dont think so: 5 posters
I dont know/maybe: 4 posters
