The lockout shouldn't have even happened in the first place.

I don't care if the league stays the same as it always has. We have just as good of a chance as any other team, we just need to build it right.
 
all basketball fans in europe would be happy,now all the nba players left,euroleague sucks bigtime :(

How do you stop a guy from going to a team if he is willing to take less money? Because that is what Lebron did. There is no rule you can write that can deal with that.

League can never stop that if players take less money to go where they want.

Exactly, all they can hope for is for higher character guys to come into the league. Guys like Sullinger and Fredette comes to mind. And for a super team, the Heat couldn't even beat an old Mavericks squad, so maybe they're not all that super after all. (Oh yeah, we beat them too!)
 
No. There is no way to change the minds of players, especially star players, about going to big market teams. It's just the way of the land and we have to deal with it.
 
The NBA is a strange animal, but I'm ready for the rumble. I'm going to celebrate every time these so-called "super teams" lose and go out in the playoffs.

Sure, I want the league back.
 
Quite frankly, I have enjoyed news reports the past few days far more than the daily "Hey what do you think about Tim Tebow" NFL headline.

No one wanted to go to Chicago or NY or Miami when those teams sucked. The key is to have a good GM, a good coach, and a well put-together team. Draft well. Trade well. Play well. There is enough talent in the league for more than a few teams to do well.

Yesterday was one of my favorite days in NBA history. I'm not even sure I'm glad about the trade being nixed, so much as seeing Laker fans go bat **** crazy about how unfair life is for them. Truly awesome.
 
What a fantastic thread theme started by the Dutchman! I only wish I would have come up with it myself! Certainly seems like very little was accomplished by the lockout, other than reducing salaries big time! But owners are upset, players are upset, media guys are upset....fans are still upset! NOBODY is really happy how things turned out! I'm upset it didn't last a whole year!
 
The League needs to make more of an effort to promote small market teams. I think the NFL does a really good job of this. One reason people don't like small markets is because they barely getting any coverage/recognition.

I'm all for positive thinking and truly believe we can build this team right and have a lot of the core pieces and assets to do so to win a championship in the years to come. But let's not kid ourselves into thinking we're on equal footing here with some of the other heavyweights of the league.

I agree with this. A team with two top players should be able to attract a major free agent and compete for a championship. Yet back in the days of Stockalone, the Jazz couldn't seem to attract that third major player to put them over the top. A couple years from now, when our young players are on the upswing and we haven't killed our cap space with an albatross contract like AK's, I'll be interested to see if the Jazz can add a major free agent to complete the puzzle.

If you look at the Knicks, first they get Amare in free agency, next Carmello forces a trade, next they take Tyson Chandler. They can build their team through free agency and stars that force trades. The Jazz have literally no room for error in their process of building a contender.
