Are the Jazz going to trade Rudy?

We made it to the 2nd round because Don was amazing throughout while every other key player (Rubio, Rudy, Joe, Favors, etc) else had moments here are there.

I have given Rudy credit. We are better with him and without him. However, I do not believe we miss the playoffs without him this year.

I dislike the Rudy hero worship around here. I don't dislike him. I had the same stance on Hayward, AK and all the way back to Ostertag. We get enamored with our own guys because we are afraid of the unknown. We wait too long to trade and we waste windows of opportunity. We simply cannot supermax Rudy. It would become the worst deal in the history of our franchise.

There’s only one guy worshipping a dude around here...

It was the clips series... he came back for the last few games and helped still. That was also like 4 years ago and Favs isn’t as spry as he used to be.
The point still stands:

How does it make any sense at all to give a supermax to a player who has never led his team to a playoff series win?

It is complete lunacy for Rudy to expect the supermax. 1 All Star Game? 2 DPOY? 2 2nd round appearances thanks to others carrying a majority of the load?

And you guys still adore him. His pride is more important than team success. Like I've been saying - give the team a fair deal contract and he's a club legend. Make us overpay, and you won't be.

Jazz record with and without Rudy:

2015-2016: 33-28 with and 7-14 without.
2016-2017: 51-30 with and 0-1 without.
2017-2018: 37-19 with 11-15 without.
2018-2019: 50-31 with and 0-1 without.
2019-2020: 42-26 with and 2-2 without.

Total 2015-2016 through 2019-2020 is 213-134 (0.614) with Rudy and 20-33 (0.377) without.

Wasn't Favors' back absolutely shot that series?
He was hobbled... I think the difference is 4 years ago he could gut that out... now I’m not sure. His back and knees are trouble... if you think he makes it through the year playing 30 minutes a night I have bad news for you.

Of the 2 extremes, which would you choose? Pay him the full supermax or let him walk for nothing, no compensation at all. Which is preferable?
Full supermax but with this caveat... I only offer that if we get to the end of the season and that’s my trump card. Now the highest I’d go is 5/195... and I think that gets it done.

Supermax is overpay I think. Besides it's small ball era and bigs shooting 3s with passing skills like point guards. We need our own version of jokic and gasol.

The point doesn’t stand at all. Just because he has not done it yet doesn’t mean he can’t do it in the future... Tatum has been to the ECF... how is he worth the same as DM? CP was the point god and has only made it once?

There isn’t just one a criteria for what makes a player worth it. The OKC win was great... a lot was on DM... a lot was on the defensive end and making Westbrick ineffective... that’s primarily on Rudy. Giving him credit doesn’t mean we worship him or think Don sucks.

Supermax contracts haven't been around that long. But so far, they have been given to:

Curry - earned it with MVP and titles

Giannis - earned it with MVP and playoff success

Harden - earned it with MVP and playoff success

Lillard - earned it with playoff performances

Westbrook - earned it with MVP "Regretted"

Wall - earned it mainly off potential and All Star appearances "Regretted"

Rudy has done nothing to truly compare with the accomplishments of Harden, Curry, or Giannis. If Rudy gets it, it will be listed with the "Regretted."

I read your posts but there is inconsistent logic which is why I’m having a hard time understanding.

1- the two year deal you want is literally not something we can legally even offer.

2- the market price for Rudy currently is 4/145... you really think he is willing to bypass like 75M?

So you say you want him but only on these terms that are fairy tale land... It’s like saying you really want to be a doctor but aren’t willing to do more than 4 years of school. Well I guess you don’t want to be a doctor then... I’d respect it more if you just said you don’t want him back... because that really seems to be what you want based on posts I’ve read.

I don't want him back at all. He's too emotional and thinks he's way better offensively than he is. Here we are in year 8 and he still can't catch most passes or make a shot outside of a dunk.

Trade him for the best haul of players and picks we can get and be done with his diva ***.
