I think it may go down as a "good for both" deal, as rare as those are.

The only reason it's good for the Jazz is they have Rudy Gobert. The more he plays, the better the Jazz are. Jazz would be a better team with Kanter willing to play a backup role. OKC got a great deal because Jazz didn't have much trade leverage. Jazz didn't get good value for Kanter, don't think either of the players they got in the deal will be anything more than end of the bench guys, and the second round pick is going to end up as another European player that will probably never end up in the NBA. The only way Jazz get any value is if they can sign someone in the offseason with the cap space they now have.

Everybody knew that Kanter didn't want to be with the Jazz. I know that the Jazz didn't have any trade leverage. This meant that the Jazz had to take less back, and the other team was going to get a steal. Kanter had been wanting to be traded for a while before it happened, and wasn't buying into the system. If that were not the case, he would have been much better for the Jazz, and could have helped them. Value can mean many different things. While I realize that the Jazz probably couldn't have gotten much better for Kanter in a trade, the players we got back (and the second round draft pick) are not close to the value a motivated Kanter brings to your team.

Oh, and what I stated about the other players is an opinion *** hole. Look up the definition of that.

It was Kanters time to shine but Rudy developed so fast. It is not Kanters fault that Rudy developed into a top 5 center already and still have the sky as the limit.

I really hate this narrative that some posters have that if you support Kanter you are somehow anti Jazz or anti Rudy Gobert.

To me, Kanter was another piece of fools gold, a guy with big O who looked good there but gave it all back on D. Like Big Al, Sap, and Boozer. Good players but never gonna get you far in the playoffs, where D takes over.

Yet Milsap is one of the better defenders in the league now. Something tells me it wasn't just the players the last say, 2 1/2 years before now. Boozer was bad, but I think Milsap and Big Al were worse due to Corbin.

I still think that Kanter will be a borderline all-star somewhere in this league, kind of like a rebirth of Al Jefferson.

As decent a person as Al Jefferson is, he is a proven loser in the the NBA.

Yet Milsap is one of the better defenders in the league now.

Prove it. 6'6" pf have a very tough time being good defenders. His TEAM is playing great D, props to him and his coach for that, but that does not make personnalyy one of the "better defenders". Boozer played for some great Chicago D teams.

I remember Sap's last year with the Jazz, a radio show had the "NBA scout" on. He said that the jazz would go nowhere until they realized that they would go nowhere with Sap as the PF. Great guy, overachiever, clutch, but way, way undersized.
