I find the term "significant other" redundant.
If you have a wife and a girlfriend, using the term "significant other" at least lets one know which "other" you are referring to.

The idea of "finding" someone to make yourself complete is also redundant. It suggests certain concepts of egocentrism which might be best perceived if you exchanged perspectives, momentarily of course, such as claiming yourself to be the missing piece of someone else.

How could I find such a result unless "I" am somehow relevant to the experience, and how would I know I was redundant as being either the "significant" one, or the "other" one in the view of the one who is both the "significant" one and the one who is relevant one "other" refers to?
