Beyond just where your values sit with this is the fact that this guy has a record and that hurts his prospects as a decent provider. Not the biggest factor for me but something to consider.

Bottomline is this is a huge red flag and there are plenty of fish in the sea. I get no one is perfect but I'd say stack the deck in your favor as much as possible.

In a case like this I would sit my duaghter down and have a frank, honest discussion with her. About prospects for employment, happiness and what not. Pros and cons if you will. Then I would have her think on it. If she does that I would honor her decision since she is an adult and can do what she wants anyways.
