Article on Jarrell Brantley

Brantley's ceiling is higher, but Oni is ready to play a role now, much like Royce O'Neale a year or two ago.

Disagree. Who’s mind is Oni going to take? He’s not going to play. He will be in GLeague like Brantley. Brantley should’ve been the one with the contract.

How much have you seen of either player? There is a limited amount of highlights on Youtube. I trust the Jazz's coaching staff and management teams to make the decision.

Oh please!! Watching SL it’s evident who the better player is, and there’s a bigger need for Brantley on the roster than Oni.

From what I saw, Brantley is head and shoulders above the other two, and as TJF said fits the position of need. But it's not like we let him go. The G-league will give him time to develop.

Good thing you don’t base these decisions off of 5 summer league games.

There is so much more that goes into these decisions. Did you see them in practice? Have you reviewed the scout’s notes on each player? Are you familiar with the Jazz’s proprietary method for evaluating players? Did you do a film study of defensive intelligence and tendencies?

I just don’t understand how fans can be so passionate on the 50th pick of the draft.

I got excited when I saw his dunk against the Spurs, but then I remembered he’s the 50th pick of the draft.

Right, because good players have never come out of the second round. I saw first round talent.

If they'll both be in G league why does it matter?

You should submit a resume to one of the 30 NBA teams.

Give me a break. It’s like one or two players a year that make it out of the second round. Lates 50s it’s one or two every 5 years.

All that being said, I hope he proves me wrong.

Contrary to my argument that contributors in the late 50s are rare, I just want to say that I have a lot of confidence in the Jazz to find contributors late or outside of the draft. I’m not sure what other teams do, but for the last three or four years the Jazz have worked out hundreds of guys that aren’t supposed to get drafted (whether in predraft workouts or free agent camps) I hope they are gathering some worthwhile intelligence with these workouts.

It usually drives me crazy when they keep inviting these guys for workouts, but when I see Royce O’neale I guess it makes a little sense (not sold on Niang yet.)

You’re doing a great Bolomboy routine right now.
I was right then to. IMO needs a realistic shot to develop. He hasn’t played basketball as long as most have. He’s raw and needs time, but his potental is high. Unfortunately organizations aren’t as patient as they used to be. It’s not a matter of I know more than they, more of they want results now.

Holy ****. Lol. Alright, well make sure you take it up with Royce personally.

If he proves himself, they’ll offer him a contract next year - just like they did with Georges Niang. There’s nothing stopping them from adding him to the 15 man roster sometime in the next 12 months. They still control his rights in a 2-way contract. I think it’s critical that all 3 guys get consistent minutes with the Stars.

It could very well be that the Jazz think that Oni will be more valuable in practices and didn’t want to limit him to just 45 days playing up with the Jazz. Hopefully Brantley and Oni both outplay their draft position. It would be huge to get two rotational guys that late in the 2nd round.

Lmfao! You’re not just an idiot, you’re a bumbling idiot!

Jazz probably paid Oni Oni because he was the one willing to do the Jr Jazz tour.

I suppose they convinced him to do it by pointing to the "Y" mtn in Provo and telli g Oni provo is full of Yale fans.
