I think the Cavs are the exception, they need to swing big now.

Lets face facts. The Cavs are gonna need a whole lot more than a top 10 pick next year to pick themselves back up after Lebron leaves. So what if it stalls their rebuild by a year, they'll have the next 2 or 3 #1s anyway. They are in for a long long rebuild.

I don't think he played because we were getting beat, he played because Hood was injured. Alec is somewhat out of the rotation, but he's an important injury insurance. They'll probably move him if they get anything, but I have a hard time imagining us dumping him for nothing, and at least giving up anything to get rid of him.

Agreed. Anyone not named Gobert, Mitchell and possibly Ingles and Exum for the FO.

A #9ish pick isn't really a franchise altering asset, especially in a 7 deep draft. It is better to have it than not to have it. But if you have a team capable of getting to the finals, it is something you flip for help now, every single time. Basically Cleveland has to place everything not immediately necessary in their rotation on the table and come up with the best deal possible. It is a long deep hole they will be in after Lebron leaves, no need to hasten that along, Jerry Krause style. . .
 
Cleveland can probably get Hill and a wing or someone like Favors with just their own picks and expirings. No need for them to use the Brooklyn pick. And I disagree it' just a 7 deep draft. Besides, there's always the chance it becomes top-3. Cleveland has a history of draft lick.

They can get Hill OR Favors with their remaining pieces, not likely both. You certainly aren't sniffing anything better than those two. And you could top 3 protect the pick. "A history of luck" really isn't something to bet Lebron James on.

They can get both of those guys. They are very likely getting Hill for a 2nd round pick and salary swaps. They could definitely get Favors from us for a 3 way with Chicago sending their pick Chicago's way.

I don't think it's bad tbh (I'd rather have kemba though)

EDIT: We would, however, have 0 picks in this years draft though
