What's new

As the trade deadline inches closer...

I think the Cavs are the exception, they need to swing big now.

Lets face facts. The Cavs are gonna need a whole lot more than a top 10 pick next year to pick themselves back up after Lebron leaves. So what if it stalls their rebuild by a year, they'll have the next 2 or 3 #1s anyway. They are in for a long long rebuild.

I was listening to the open floor podcast the other day where the hosts argued that it makes sense for Cleveland to deal LeBron to Houston and that LeBron would want to go there out of all of his other options. Actually, I found their arguments compelling. Plus, I think it would make one hell of a rivalry and a great Western Conference finals to see Houston with LeBron going up against Golden State. I’m not sure what Houston can offer for LeBron, but This would certainly make things in the NBA very interesting.

I guess it depends on what you mean by interesting. Having a few teams with the biggest stars makes the NBA boring to me. Parity may not be the ideal but neither is having 1-2 teams that have a chance.

Huge trade involving Clippers and Pistons...

Meanwhile in salt lake city...

I agree with you, but in the current NBA there is no team that will challenge Golden State. This at least provides a legitimate challenger to the 4 to 5 year Golden State dynasty, which is almost inevitable moving forward, unless something radical and unexpected happens.

Well right no now only 1 team has a chance.
At least if Lebron went to Houston that would double the amount of teams with a chance.

Favors will not be easy to trade given his contract situation. And there are things worse than letting him walk.
I’ve been sayin moves would be scarce for a while and been met with “oh there will for sure be deals lolz” but we’ll soon that narrative real quick when confronted with reality. I’m 50/50 on Favors being dealt.

I don't want JR Smith, but he is only due $14.7 for next year and that's it because 2019-20 is non-guaranteed. I bet the Cavs do this deal in a heartbeat after the Hill trade:

Favors and Hood for JR Smith, Osman and the Brooklyn pick.

In all likelihood, the trade saves Cleveland money this year and next year. Hood is better than JR Smith and Favors can be very helpful for their post. In two trades, they would have added a PG/SG, a SG/SF and a PF/C who all help their matchups against Golden State. They aren't going to be able to find any other deal where they dump JR and add two useful players.

You must be a terrible gambler
