You may have heard about this last week, particularly if you live in Utah. The weird thing for me is that I know Grant Eggertsen (the attacker for those of you too lazy to read the article). He's in my ward. My jaw pretty much hit the floor when I heard this because I never would have expected him to attack someone like that. For crying out loud he taught the lesson in Elders Quorum the Sunday before this happened, and he was our ward's Sunday School president, though he was subsequently released from that calling this past Sunday. I'm really curious as to just how how his and the woman's relationship "deteriorated".

Seriously, you think you kind of know someone, but then something like this happens.

While I do not own a sword I do have a nice, large machete with a rooster tail...

Do you know his occupation? If their relationship was "professional" then my guess is he either tried to turn their professional relationship into something more or maybe was just a crappy worker and she got rid of him.

I *think* he works/worked in selling financial services. Another article I read about the incident said that he and the woman used to work together, but I never saw anything more specific than that the relationship deteriorated.

This is one of those times when I want to know more but I'm definitely not going to ask.

Sweet lord no. No thank you. No callings for me.
You don't have to be active or even a member of the church to have a calling. I'll talk to the bishop in your area and see what we can come up with...perhaps 11-yr old Scout leader; that's a good one!

He will be disappointed when I look him in the eye and tell him no. That surprised the last Bishop as well.

Thank goodness this didnt turn into something far worse. And thank goodness this guy turned himself in and has shown a lot more accountability than that other guy a while back. Anyone remember him? He preyed on LDS women and kidnapped them to his cabin up in heber? I think the dirt bag made bail and ended up killing himself.

^^^Yes, I do. Shot himself in his cabin. A fitting end to a horrible, violent crime spree. Died alone, in terrible despair...similar to how his victims would have felt after he abused them. Let's hope Mr. Eggertsen gets the counseling he obviously needs along with whatever punishment the courts hand down for his actions.

It seems like Grant and his wife could be headed for a divorce. Grant still won't even tell his wife about what was going on between him and the woman he attacked. Seriously, you do something like that and put your wife and 4 kids in a horrible spot and then you won't even tell your wife the truth? That pisses me off.

So no one knows what his deal with "the other woman" was? She filed a restraining order against him at some point. That's a matter of public record. If I was his wife I would have a hard time (an impossible time) trusting him if he wasn't even willing to come clean about what was going on.

Sounds like the marriage was over quite some time ago and the only thing left is to file the paperwork. I'm sorry, but NO woman is worth getting all crazy over.

Fair enough, Let me call AYSO and tell them you want to be a youth soccer referee.
And Stoked, I take back what I said about getting you to be a soccer ref; seems like that is too dangerous a volunteer job in Utah. It's much safer here in the LA area!

Creepy Mormon guys and their secret lives!

It could be a daily column.

There are tons of creepy guys and their secret lives, why narrow it down to only Mormon guys?
Get more articles that way.

Disturbing that there's that many creepy guys out there though.

Thanks for looking out for my safety lol.
